Attention Seniors: If you have not already done so, please schedule an appointment with your College Advisors to check in about your post-high school graduation plans. Attention Seniors: FAFSA IS DUE MARCH 2. Many of you received notification after filling out your FAFSA that your GPA needs to be verified in order to be considered for a Cal Grant. The deadline to do so is March 2nd. Ms. Mellion, BHS Registrar, works with the California Student Aid Commission to electronically upload and verify all of your GPA information by the deadline. You do not need to take any action at this time.

SAT (Always select to send all scores)
Applying to CSUs: You can list CSUMentor as an SAT score recipient. The SAT institution code for CSUMentor is 3594. CSUMentor will then store your scores for ALL CSU campuses to utilize. If you have not yet sent your scores to either a CSU campus or CSUMentor, you can request this at www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/sat/reg.html<http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/sat/reg.html>.

South Carolina Federal Credit Union will be awarding a total of $7,500 in scholarship money to three deserving students. 1st Place:  $4,000.  2nd Place: $2,500.  3rd Place: $1,000.  Applications will be accepted from January 2, 2017 through February 28, 2017. Annual Toyota/Steve Young Scholar-Athlete Award - February 28, 2017
Award is $2500 for one female student athlete and one male student athlete, whose academic and athletic careers have been exemplary and whose personal standards and accomplishments are a positive role model for others.  Application must include transcripts, a 2-page essay, and 3 letters of recommendation, each addressing one of the following: athletic skill, academic standing, and personal qualities. Tzu Chi Foundation Scholarship - March 3, 2017
Tzu Chi Scholars is a scholarship program funded by Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation (www.tzuchi.org<http://www.tzuchi.org/>) to recognize and provide financial assistance to outstanding college-bound high school graduates.  Tzu Chi Scholars are selected on the basis of their financial need, academic achievement and community involvement. Each Scholar will receive a one-time award of $1,000. A small number of Scholars may be further recognized for a four-year total scholarship award of up to $4,000. To apply, you must:  1. Be a U.S. high school graduating senior (foreign students on student visa not included), 2. Demonstrate financial need for college tuition, 3. Have a minimum 3.0 GPA, 4. ST. JOHN'S COLLEGE SUMMER ACADEMY
The summer program for high school students (ages 15 to 18) is modeled after St. John's discussion-based, interdisciplinary method of teaching the great books. Sessions are hosted in Annapolis, Maryland, and Santa Fe, New Mexico. A hands-on introduction to college life, the program helps students hone their reading, critical thinking, and discussion skills. WILLIAM AND MARY - NIAHD Pre-College Summer Program in Early American History
Program Dates: June 25 - July 15, 2017 and July 16 - August 5, 2017
Students will study early American history "on-site" through the use of historic places, including suriving structures, archaeology sites, and museums.  Students will participate in daily discussion seminars, analyze readings, expand their analytical writing skills, and compare and contrast historic sites.
