Morning Sports Report - Tournament Edition

The wrestling team competed in the conference tournament this weekend. Congratulations to Sam Holtman who placed second in league, as well as Malachi Stevenson, Luis Sanchez Cruz, John Henry Wooden Richard, and Sunish Patel who all placed third. By placing in the top 3 at the tournament, they have been selected as representatives of the conference at the NCS tournament that will be happening this weekend.

Congratulations to the girls varsity soccer team for a GREAT season! After their exciting win over Foothill in the first round of the NCS tournament, the girls team (seeded #13) took on California High (#5 seed team) on Saturday in San Ramon in the NCS Quarterfinals. Cal High came out strong scoring 2 in the first half. The Yellowjackets kept them to a scoreless second half but it wasn't enough and final score was California 2 - Berkeley 0. Congratulations to the Girls Soccer team for all their hard work as Student Athletes and representing Berkeley High!

Congratulations to the boys varsity soccer team for the win in the Quarterfinals of NCS! Saturday evening the boys team (seed #5) hosted the #13 Foothill at Jacket Stadium. Finishing regulation time with a tied score of 1-1 they headed into double overtime. BHS blocked any attempts by Foothill to score and then scored in the second overtime. What a celebrated victory at home with the fans cheering them on! This Wednesday the team will travel to San Ramon Valley to play SRV High (#1) at 7:00 p.m. in the NCS semi-finals.

Congratulations to both the girls and boys varsity basketball teams for advancing to the NCS playoff championships. The boys, who are seeded 14th in Division I playoffs, travel to Concord tonight to play De La Salle (#3 seed). The girls, who are seeded #6, will host Dublin High School tonight in the Donahue Gym.

All NCS playoff games start at 7:00 pm, and tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students with ID.
