Congratulations to the Boys and Girls Varsity Soccer Teams

on their WINS in the first round of NCS playoffs!



*BOYS GAME*

The boys team (seeded #5) hosted Granada high (seed #12) at Berkeley
High.  With
a 0-0 score at the half, Berkeley came out strong and had 2 goals, first
from Yohannes Kalonji and second by Max Peterson.  Granada answered with a
goal, but were unable to match the Jackets and final score was 2-1.



Next up for the boys is Saturday 2/18 at Berkeley High when they host
Foothill (#13) in the Quarterfinals.  7:00 p.m. Berkeley High School -
Jacket Stadium.



*GIRLS GAME*

The girls team (seeded #13) traveled to Pleasanton and matched up with
Foothill high the #4 seed team for what ended up being a very exciting game!
Foothill scored in the first half, but Berkeley came back strong in the
second and tied the game up with a goal by Francesca Comacchio.  Regulation
time ended with a 1-1 tie.  After two 10 minute overtimes the score
remained 1-1 and they moved to Penalty Kicks.  After 11 rounds, the Jackets
won!



They will proceed to the quarterfinals on Saturday 2/18, when they play
California High (#5) at 7:00 pm. The game will be played at California
High, 9870 Broadmoor Dr, San Ramon, CA.
