Announcements are put together in the BHS Main Office, by Felicia

the announcements where you are during second period, or if you would 
like to read them each day, you can find them in the 
Daily Bulletin section of Powerschool.

*Spring Semester Open House*

Berkeley High School's annual Open House is Thursday, February 9th, at 
7:00 pm. During Open House, parents and guardians follow their students' 
schedules as they meet teachers for mid-year class updates. Teachers 
will showcase recent student work, preview topics that will be covered 
this semester, and talk about upcoming field trips. Students: remind 
your parents to attend, especially if you have a new class or a new 
teacher this semester. Parents can visit information tables in the Food 
Court starting at 6:30, zero period starts at 6:45, and first period 
starts at 7:00.

*Morning Sports Report*

Winners from last weekend's games include boys varsity soccer and girls 
varsity soccer. There are no scheduled sports events today.

*MathWorks
*
Attention interested math students! MathWorks is an after school 
academic support program providing one-on-one and group math tutoring 
for Willard Middle School students. You can receive tutoring, community 
service and even leadership credit for tutoring students at Willard on 
Tuesday afternoons from 4:10 until 5:00. Join today by coming to Willard 
Middle School, 2425 Stuart Street near Telegraph Avenue.

*JUNIORS: Rising Above Scholarship Information Session
*
Students Rising Above is an organization that invests in low-income, 
first generation college students who have demonstrated a deep 
commitment to education and strength of character while overcoming 
tremendous odds of poverty, homelessness, and neglect. Juniors: Are you 
a student who is “rising above?” If so, Students Rising Above invites 
you to apply for their mentoring and scholarship program. For more 
information, come to an information session with an advisor from 
Students Rising Above today at lunchtime in the College & Career Center, 
room D-221 (across from the library).

*Talent Show Tryouts
*
Got talent? Audition for Berkeley High's annual Talent Show! Sign up at 
the Leadership Office. Audition dates will be February 13 through 
February 24. The show is March 17 so we hope to see you on stage or in 
the audience.

Chinese New Year*

Berkeley High's Mandarin program is pleased to host its annual Chinese 
culture fair on Friday, February 10, from 8:45 until 11:30 in the West 
Gallery of the Community Theater. There will be awesome activities like 
paper-cutting, calligraphy, Chinese tea served by students, and 
delicious food. And everything is totally free! There's no need to sign 
up beforehand; we invite all teachers to bring their classes and get 
ready for a great time! There will also be a raffle. The winners will be 
announced at the fair before 3rd period ends, and winners can claim 
their prizes in room C-220.

*Spring Sports
*
Tryouts for all spring sports (except boys volleyball) are happening 
this week. To view the tryout schedules, visit the BHS Athletics 
website. You must have a cleared packet to participate in any tryouts. 
Make-up packet clearing will be held February 7 and 9 at lunchtime and 
3:30-4:00 pm in the Athletic Director's office in room J-207 behind the 
stadium bleachers.

*Dance Production 2018*

Dancers of all kinds! Come out and AUDITION for Dance Production 2018. 
The audition workshops begin this week, WEDNESDAY at LUNCH on the A 
BUILDING stage. See Ms. Carr in the A building for more information.

*Berkeley High Ski & Snowboard Club*

Want to ski or snowboard with your friends, escape school and parents, 
and enjoy a beautiful day on the mountain? Go Ahead Shred, Berkeley 
High's ski and snowboard club, is hosting a one day trip to Squaw Valley 
this Sunday, February 12! The waiver and payment is due this Thursday to 
Mr. Parker's room, C221. Find additional information on the fliers 
posted throughout the school and on Go Ahead Shred's Instagram and website.
