Announcements are put together in the BHS Main Office, by Felicia Phillips
feliciaphillips at berkeley.net. For those of you who do not hear the
announcements where you are during second period, or if you would like to
read them each day, you can find them in the Daily Bulletin section of
Powerschool.



*Berkeley High School Bulletin for Tuesday, January 24, 2017*

*IMPORTANT: Finals Week Schedule*
Fall Semester final exams begin tomorrow, Wednesday, January 25. You can
find complete bell schedule for final exams on pages 70 and 71 of your BHS
Student Organizer/Handbook. From Wednesday through Friday, students will go
to only two periods each day, but each period will be two hours long for
final exams and presentations.

On Wednesday, 1st and 2nd period will meet, on Thursday, 3rd and 4th period
will meet, and on Friday, 5th and 6th period will meet. At 12:40 p.m.,
students are free to leave campus for the day. From 1:26 until 2:47 on
Wednesday and Thursday, students can meet with teachers if they have
questions about finals or to take make-up exams. The Friday afternoon
make-up period is only for students who had exam conflicts earlier in week,
or students who need extended time. You must notify your teachers in
advance if you need make-up time.

*Finals Week Access to the CCC & the Library*
On Wednesday, January 25 through Friday, January 27, both the Library and
the College & Career Center will be closed. Teachers: please do not send
students to either location during finals. The Library will be fully
operational and open before school, during passing period and after school
until 3:00. The CCC will be fully operational for tutoring from 1:00 until
3:30.

*NO SCHOOL on Monday, January 30*
There is no school on Monday, January 30, so that your teachers can finish
grading your final exams and projects. Classes resume on the first day of
the Spring Semester, which is Tuesday, January 31.

*Jacket Newspaper's Black History Month Issue*
The Jacket newspaper is publishing a Black History Month issue on February
10, and is now collecting submissions of poems, writing, and artwork from
the BHS community that celebrate the African American experience. Please
send all submissions to nataliebettendorf at students.berkeley.net or drop
them off in room G-108B. The hard deadline is January 28th.

*Introducing the You Are My Other Me Club*
A new student club has formed to bring together students from the BHS
Newcomer program, who are recent immigrants to the United States, with
other students on campus. The You Are My Other Me club will build community
through games and activities. Only together and through common experience
can we fight for our civil rights. The club will meet on Wednesdays
starting on February 1 at lunch in Ms. Taylor's room, C-206. Join the club
to have fun while working together.

*Morning Sports Report*
There are no scheduled athletics events for today.


Here are the results from weekend competition: the girls freshman soccer
team remains undefeated with two weekend victories, the boys and girls
varsity basketball teams defeated Piedmont, and the girls JV soccer team
beat Castro Valley while the girls varsity soccer team tied Castro Valley.


On Wednesday, the boys basketball teams host Encinal, the girls basketball
teams travel to Mt. Eden, the boys soccer teams host San Leandro, and the
girls soccer teams travel to Piedmont.

This Thursday at 5:00 p.m. in the M gym, Berkeley Wrestling will be hosting
its final dual matches of the year. Come out and support as they face off
against Arroyo and Mt. Eden. Admission is free!

this week's games.

*Blood Drive - February 8*
Rain Drop, Drop Top, come drop your blood off at the next blood drive on
Wednesday, February 8, in the East Gallery. Sign up on the Senior Steps on
Thursday and Friday of this week and Monday and Tuesday of Finals Week. You
must be at least 16 years old to sign up.

*Socks & Umbrella Drive for Homeless Students*
The BIHS Junior Class Leadership Team is extending its socks and umbrella
drive for homeless students at Berkeley High until Friday, February 10.
Please bring new socks and new umbrellas to collection boxes in the C
Building Gallery or in the breezeway of the G/H buildings. Thank you for
your continued support!

*Winter Wonderland Dance*
In just 10 days, the Winter Wonderland Dance is coming to BHS! On Friday,
February 3 from 7:00-10:00pm, show up and show out at Berkeley High's
Winter Wonderland. This dance is for all grades to come and SLAYYY. Tickets
are available for purchase in the Leadership Office during lunch. Food and
Entertainment will be provided!
