Morning Sports Report
Last night in NCS playoff action, the Jacket girls volleyball team lost to top seed James Logan. Though they will not continue in the playoffs, we want to congratulate the team for a great season!

Last Friday, our Varsity football and water polo teams fell to Bishop O'Dowd, but our JV football team defeated Bishop O'Dowd 26-20. On Saturday, the girls varsity volleyball team competed in the San Ramon Valley tournament and went 1-2, losing to Acalanes and James Logan but beating Carondelet.

Tryouts for Winter Sports -- which includes boys & girls basketball, boys & girls soccer and boys & girls wrestling -- begin November 7. You must have a cleared packet to participate in any tryouts. Athletic packets can be cleared in the AD office on November 2 and 3, 2016 (lunchtime and 3:30-4:30) in the Athletic Director's office, room J-207 (above the Jacket Stadium box office). If you already cleared a packet, and/or played a Fall sport, all you have to do is pick up a yellow card to take to tryouts: come to the clearing dates and there will be an 'express line'.

Tryouts for winter sports begin on Monday, November 7. For details, visit the BHS website and click on the Athletics tab.

YouthSpeaks Presents "The Bigger Picture"
Today we welcome to the Little Theatre "The Bigger Picture", a collaboration between Youth Speaks, and the University of California, San Francisco Center for Vulnerable Populations. The Bigger Picture (TBP) school visit program provides young people with critical information and resources regarding the social determinants of type 2 diabetes, health outcomes, and health disparities. The program features live spoken word, short films from the campaign, and an interactive presentation that introduces young people to the environmental drivers of Type 2 Diabetes.

Dozens of teachers will bring their classes to "The Bigger Picture", which takes place today during 1st, 2nd and 3rd period. The program returns to Berkeley High in March.
