The BHS Orienteering Team has won State Varsity and Western Regional Championships several times in past years, and is positioned to do so again!
Orienteering is a navigation sport that mixes decision-making with cross country running. You're given a detailed map of a course (some meet locations include Tilden Park, Briones Regional Park and the UC Berkeley campus). It rewards navigation skills, route choice, focus, and tactics. If feels like a mission-based game come to life.
This is a great time to join the team. Competitive and non-competitive navigators welcome as well as all levels of athletic ability. Navigation ability and willingness to go off trail are a bonus, but both can be learned.
Orienteering Club is a great way to get P.E. credit, enjoy Bay Area parks, and experience state, regional and national championships even as a novice.
Club meetings Fridays at lunch in C217.
