Berkeley High's Arts and Humanities Academy (AHA) hosted an unveiling of a
beautiful glass tile mural mounted outside of the M Building (the new South
of Bancroft classroom building) on Wednesday May 4th in a meaningful
ceremony attended by about 50 students, teachers, community members and
school board members.

The Berkeley High “One School Mural” was conceived by students who worked
on the Mural independently, and had the opportunity to work with master
artists Jos Sances, Miriam Klein Stahl, Eric Norberg and Andrea Sanguine.

The mural, which honors and commemorates the peaceful march of over 2,000
BUSD students in November of 2015, addresses the ongoing struggle for
racial justice that is relevant in every classroom. Right now this is a
major focus at BHS and in BUSD, and this mural will help remind us every
day for decades to come of the ability of our amazing students to lead the
way. There is a small plaque next to the mural honoring the student's
leadership in 2015-16, empowering future generations of BHS students to
continue to work together to make positive change in their community and
beyond.
