*Berkeley High Jazz Students Play the Freight on March 7.*

Special guests bassoonist Paul Hanson and bassist Ariane Cap join the
Berkeley High Jazz Program’s Two O’clock & Four O’clock Bands at the
Freight and Salvage Coffeehouse on March 7 at 7:30 p.m. for an evening
showcasing the up-and-coming musicians in the legendary BHS Jazz program.

“We’re excited for the chance to have these wonderful young musicians
show their chops,” said Sarah Cline, director of the Berkeley High Jazz
Program. “And if you haven’t heard a jazz bassoonist before – and I’m
pretty sure you haven’t – you’ll be in for a memorable evening of
unforgettable music.”

Guest musicians Paul Hanson, a BHS alum, and Ariane Cap perform together
as OoN, an unlikely combination of bass and bassoon that creates
beautiful melodic Chamber Jazz: sometimes peaceful and meditative, at
other times passionate, raging or groovy. (More at www.oonband.com
<http://www.oonband.com>) As an improvising bassoonist, Paul has played
with musicians from Wayne Shorter to Bob Weir’s RATDOG. Ariane is a
multi-instrumentalist who has played with many jazz, world, and
rock/funk recording artists and teaches at the Berkeley Jazz School and
at her own music school, Step up Music.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $22 at the door. For tickets, visit
