Thursday was an intense and amazing day at Berkeley High, where students
exhibited extraordinary abilities and leadership, in
a peaceful demonstration and march. Berkeley High's new principal Sam
Pasarow displayed caring, empathetic support for his students as he
stood beside them throughout the day, marching beside them to Cal and
back, demonstrating strong yet humble leadership himself. Two school
board members were on hand for the march and the demonstration at Cal,
while two more remained at Berkeley High to lend support while the
principal was off site. Mr. Pasarow's etree message to the BHS community
Thursday night did a great job of telling the story. The photos of the
day are worth checking out, and the KQED Forum link below is worth
listening to.

Here is the link to Friday morning's KQED Forum on the racial incident
at Berkeley High School, with guests Alecia Harger, co-president
BHS Black Student Union; Sam Pasarow, BHS Principal and Lance Knobel,
Berkeleyside co-founder. This is a very concise discussion regarding the
last two days at Berkeley High.
