Ecology Project International is a nonprofit organization that works to form student-scientist partnerships around the world. Students get the opportunity to work alongside researchers at field sites in Costa Rica to assist with data collection and learn about the local ecology. They work closely with local students as well, building in a great opportunity for students to meet and interact with local peers in a meaningful way.

In Costa Rica the course is focused on a sea turtle ecology research project based on the Caribbean coast. Students patrol the beach with instructors and researchers in the evening and collect data on nesting leatherback sea turtles. Each course also has the opportunity to explore an inland rainforest reserve and learn about the culture, history, and ecology of Costa Rica. There will be an information meeting in room M-201 on Wednesday, November 4th at lunch.

Please come and hear about this organization and about financial aid and fundraising opportunities.

Contact Susi López, susilopez at berkeley.net<mailto:susilopez at berkeley.net>, if you have any questions.
