Twelve Berkeley schools joined Safe Routes to Schools to celebrate International Walk & Roll to School Day on Wednesday, and I was able to catch up with four of them.

The day began at 7:30 a.m. with a Bike Train from the Elmwood to Malcolm X, picking up riders along the way. Next was Malcolm X including their signature Valet Drop Off Zone in full operation, followed by Berkeley Arts Magnet, LeConte and Berkeley High where I found bikes stored in all corners of the school, many of them regular riders.

I ran into an interesting class on the Campus Green at BHS, doing an exercise where one group is the deer (food, water) a second group the habitat, and a third the wolves who eat the deer who don't connect with a habitat. School can be so fun... I had to include photos of that.
