The Oakland Raiders chose Berkeley High’s Head Football Coach Clarence 
Johnson (aka “CJ”) as their High School “Coach of the Week”.

Following the Friday 9/18 victory over Castlemont, Coach CJ received 
news on Tuesday September 22 from The Oakland Raiders that he had been 
chosen to receive the honor.

The program promotes High School Football and recognizes teams and 
coaches for their hard work. In the email from Will Telfer, Youth 
Football Manager with the Oakland Raiders, explained that this honor is 
“Designed to honor coaches who have created successful programs for 
teams and players, both on and off of the playing field.” The “Coach of 
the Week” program provides teams with financial assistance to maintain 
their football programs.

As this week’s recipient, Berkeley High School will be awarded a $1,000 
donation to the school’s football program from The Oakland Raiders, and 
the NFL Foundation.

Upon hearing of this recognition, Coach CJ was quick to point out that 
this is a team honor and recognizes the hard work of many!

A presentation from the Raiders to Coach CJ, the Football team, and the 
Berkeley High Football program will take place on the Berkeley High 
School Jackets Stadium field at 3:45 on Monday September 28.

Congratulations to the Berkeley High Football team and their amazing 
Coaching Staff!
