Congratulations to the Boys and Girls Basketball teams on an excellent 
season and on representing Berkeley High so well all the way to the CIF 
Northern California Semi Finals!

In an unprecedented run, both our girls' and boys' basketball teams 
advanced all the way to the NorCal Semifinal round. The girls advanced 
to the NorCal round by defeating Pittsburg at St Mary's College and 
winning the North Coast Section title, thus earning the #3 seed in the 
CIF NorCal bracket.  After wins against Lincoln High School of San 
Francisco and James Logan of Union City, the Lady Jackets were 
eliminated by Oak Ridge High School in El Dorado Hills.

The boys had an impressive run of their own, reaching the North Coast 
Section semifinals before losing to the eventual NCS champion, Monte 
Vista. From there they earned the #7 seed in NorCal. With decisive wins 
over Salinas as well as the #2 seeded Sheldon of Sacramento, the boys 
advanced to the NorCal semifinals before being defeated in a hard fought 
game against San Ramon Valley.

J'AIAMONI WELCH-COLEMAN

SCHOOL: Berkeley

SPORT: Basketball

YEAR: Senior

POSITION: Point guard

THE STAT LINE: Weber State-bound Welch-Coleman scored 25 points, grabbed 
eight rebounds and passed for nine assists in the Yellowjackets' 54-47 
win over Pittsburg 54 in the NCS Division I championship game. She also 
had 20 points and nine rebounds in a semifinal victory over Clayton 
Valley Charter.
