*Dear BUSD Families of Students with Disabilities or Special Needs:
*
**
* Is your child struggling at school and you don’t know what to do?
* Do you really feel confident that you are navigating well through
the special education process?
* Do you have questions and want some expert advice?
* Do you want to meet people who can offer you direct support?
* Are you well learned about the process and able to provide
information to others?
* Would Your Middle or High School Student Benefit from an Empowerment
Workshop?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, *SATURDAY, MARCH 7, 2015*
has been designed with *You and Your Family In Mind*. The Office of
Family Engagement, Concerned Parents, and Parents of Children of African
Descent are hosting a Parent Empowerment Summit for all BUSD Families of
Students with Disabilities. Come and learn from the experts as there
will be presentations from DREDF, the Disability Rights Education and
Defense Fund, the Family Resource Network, and BUSD Parents. The day
will also feature a separate Empowerment Workshop for Middle and High
School Students from the CAL Berkeley Eye To Eye program, a Parent
Toolkit, and free childcare by trained professionals for elementary
school students.
We’re starting at *9:30 am and going until 3pm* to make the day as
productive as possible. Lunch will also be provided. Because the demand
is great and space is limited, *please rsvp* with the number of adult
and student participants *by texting* 925-238-5239 <tel:925-238-5239> no
later than *Tuesday, March 3, 2015.*
