Announcements are put together in the BHS Main Office. For those of you who
do not hear the announcements where you are during second period, or if you
would like to read them each day, you can find them in the Daily Bulletin
section of Powerschool.

EVENTS

Talent Show

You got talents?! Well, we want them! It's finally time for Berkeley High's
2015 talent show! Whether you sing, dance, or even hula hoop, this show is
your chance to show off your skills! Sign up now, outside of the leadership
office, auditions begin February 17th. See you there.

 

LEADERSHIP

Valentine's Grams

Buy Valentine's Day Grams for your friends and significant other! Candy
Grams will be sold on Tuesday the 10th and Wednesday the 11th on the senior
steps. Lollipops will be 2 for $1. Baked goods will also be available.

 

ADMIN

PE Waivers

Spring PE Waivers are due to the attendance office on Friday, February 6th
by 4:00 PM.

 

CLUBS

1. Hip Hop Studies Club

Do you like hip hop? Do you want to learn how to make beats and talk to
other people about music? Come to Hip Hop Studies Club in the Leadership
Office Mondays after school. They will be starting studio time in C400 soon,
so now's a great time to join. Ask Mr. V in Leadership if you have any
questions.

 

2. American Mathematics Competition

The American Mathematics Competition is on Wednesday, February 25th.
Practice Sessions will be at lunch in room H216 on every Tuesday and
Thursday until the event.

 

SENIORS

Scholarships: Hear about another scholarship opportunity for students whose
first language was Spanish. Come to the CCC on February 12 at lunch time.
Please bring your lunch right after 3rd period to start the meeting promptly
and learn about the 2015 ELENA CASTANEDA MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP.

 

LIBRARY

1. Internship Opportunity Central Library Teen Room - Redesign February -
June 2015 Are you a teenager with opinions? We are looking for 15 people
currently in grades 8-11 to help us design the new Central Library Teen
room. You will commit to attending 3-6 during design phases of the project.
If selected, you'll work with Library staff and architects from local firm
Noll&Tam. What's in it for you? Civic engagement. Leadership development.
Community service hours. You will also receive letters of recommendation and
appreciation as well as a stipend at the end of the project. Interested?

2. Free SAT Prep SAT test takers! Take advantage of our FREE SAT prep class.
We'll meet from 4:00pm to 5:30 for six consecutive Wednesdays February 4th
through March 11, 2015. The class is in the 3rd floor Electronic Classroom
at the Central Library. REGISTER HERE. Space is limited to 20. Juniors get
priority. Advanced registration is required at http://edupath.org/berkeley.
This is a partnership between EduPath and Berkeley Public Library. For more
information call 510 981-6135.

 

SPORTS

1. Athletic Packets: Today, Friday, is the last official day to clear an
athletic packet with the Athletic Director's office and be able to tryout.
Come by lunchtime or after school. If you already cleared a packet this
year, you still need to come by and check in with the AD office, let them
know what sport you will try out for and get a 'gold ticket' to go to
tryouts. Questions? Come by AD office J207 and get the answer!

 

2. Tryouts start Monday, February 9th. Softball Tryouts will be at the
softball field on Milvia and Channing 4:30 bring cleats, tennis shoes, glove
and athletic apparel. Tryouts will be all week long. More sports tryout
schedules TBA.
