Seniors: Learn about a scholarship from the Berkeley Community Fund on
Thursday, December 11 during lunch

 

What:  Berkeley Community Fund High Hopes Scholarship to be presented by
Joleen Ruffin, Executive Director

 

Twenty-five need-based scholarships ($4,000 per yr. for 4 yrs.) will be
awarded to Berkeley public school students who will attend a 4-year college
full-time in the Fall.

 

Requirements:

1. Cumulative GPA over 2.5 in high school. 

2. High school work, including the courses and extracurricular and outside
activities, must demonstrate that you are ready for the challenge of
college.  

3. Must be involved in BCF mentoring programs and events during the college
years.

4. On-line application opens in January '15 and ends April '15.

 

Past Award Recipients:

Students represent the varied ethnic and racial groups at Berkeley High
School.  Many are the first in families to attend college and many are
recent immigrants to the United States.  They come from single-parent
families and foster homes.  They have had to deal with illness, poverty,
unemployment and family dysfunction.  Despite these challenges, they have
excelled in school and are leaders in the community. 

 

When: Thursday, December 11, 2014 during the lunch period.  Please bring
your lunch and arrive promptly, 11:38-12:18.

 

Where: College and Career Center, D-221
