Announcements are put together in the BHS Main Office. For those of you who
do not hear the announcements where you are during second period, or if you
would like to read them each day, you can find them in the Daily Bulletin
section of Powerschool.

 

Berkeley High School Bulletin, Wednesday October 14

 

Administration

 

1. Saturday School - Saturday School is this Saturday from 9:00 AM to 12:00
PM. Sign up in the Attendance Office before school, at lunch or after
school. Remember you can only clear the previous month's absences, so this
one will clear absences for September.

 

2. PSAT - Berkeley High sold out the 700 PSAT exams that were ordered for
Oct. 18. Miramonte High School has agreed to lend 40 more tests to us.
Juniors who were unable to register for the exam should come TODAY at lunch
or after school to the ticket window on Allston Way. Payment of the $25 fee
may be cash or check written to Berkeley High School. All students who are
registered for the PSAT must report to the campus green by 8 a.m. on
Saturday. Bring a photo ID, several number 2 pencils (not mechanical) and a
calculator for the math sections of the test. Room assignments will be
posted on the doors to the C building. There is a CAL home football game so
be aware that Milvia St. will be closed to traffic from Allston to Channing.
Testing should finish around 11 a.m.

 

Leadership

 

ASB Sticker - One more week to purchase an ASB Sticker. The gold level is
$100 and gets you free entry into home games, a free t-shirt, discounts to
events and dances and a free yearbook! Go to the leadership office to pick
up a form. The last day to get one is this Friday.

 

Seniors

 

Senior Portraits - Appointments should have been mailed home. If you do not
receive anything by October 21st please visit abcschoolportraits.com to set
up an appointment.

 

Events/Performances

 

1. Down Syndrome Awareness Month - Did you know that this month was down
syndrome awareness? If you want to learn more about it, checkout the down
syndrome connection of the bay area's website. BHS Student Eli's mother
works there and she can teach you more about down syndrome. Visit

2. Jacket Jam - This Friday night at 7 PM in the Little Theater the Senior
Class will be hosting the 2nd Annual Jacket Jam. The set list includes
Callaghan (Call-a-han) and Black Bones, as well as special guest performers.
Tickets are $3 for presale in the leadership office or $5 at the door.

 

Clubs

 

BuildOn Club - Join and help raise money to build schools in developing
countries. Even travel to another country to help with construction! They
meet Wednesdays at lunch in C317.

 

Sports

 

1. Want to tryout for a Berkeley High School Winter Sport team? Winter
Sports for boys and girls include Basketball, Soccer, and Wrestling. You
must have a completed athletic packet cleared with the Athletic Director's
office prior to tryouts on November 10th. Clearing dates for the packets
will be November 3-7 at lunchtime and after school. If you already cleared a
packet for Fall Sports just come by and register during those times. All
Athletes with cleared packets will be given a Gold Ticket with their name
and their sport listed to give the Coach their first day at tryouts.

 

2. Football game is at Bishop O'Dowd this Friday. If attend you MUST
purchase your tickets in advance. There are NO ticket sales at the game. You
can buy them online or at BHS at the Stadium ticket booth today 4:30-6:30 or
Thursday 4:30-6:30. Go cheer for the Yellowjackets!

 

3. There is a Rugby information meeting today after school from 3:45-4:00 by
the Donahue Gym. If you cannot make it, email
daniellewalton at students.berkeley.net or oceanspikes at yahoo.com for
information.

 

College/Career

 

1. Summer Internship - The District Attorney's Justice Academy (DAJA) is
offering an exciting opportunity for you to learn about the justice system
and get placed at a paid summer internship position! *Submit your
application no later than FRIDAY, 11/7/14 at 4pm! For more information,
please check the bulletin in your email for links.

 

2. Work Opportunities - Visit
