Announcements are put together in the BHS Main Office and will be sent out
through the BHS E-tree twice a week. For those of you who do not hear the
announcements where you are during second period, or if you would like to
read them each day, you can find them in the Daily Bulletin section of
Powerschool.

 

Berkeley High School Bulletin, Tuesday September 30

 

ADMINISTRATION

1. The first Saturday School is this Saturday, October 4th from 9:00 AM to
12:00 PM. Students interested in attending must sign up in the Attendance
Office before school, at lunch or after school. Remember that you can only
clear the previous month's absences, so this month absences for September
can be cleared.

 

2. PSAT sign-ups for Juniors will begin Sept. 24 at lunch and after school
at the ticket window at Allston Way by the A gate. The fee is $25 payable in
cash or check written to Berkeley High School. Juniors who qualify for free
and reduced lunch can pay $5. Sign-ups for Juniors will end Wednesday, Oct.
8. Sophomores will sign up between Oct. 1 and Oct. 8. The test is Saturday,
October 18th. Students should report to the campus green at 8 a.m. on the
18th. Room assignments will be posted on the C building doors. The testing
should conclude by noon.

ATHLETICS

Come to the BHS Jacket's Football home game this Friday against Heritage.
Join the Hive student cheering section and support our mighty jackets.

 

LEADERSHIP

SOLES4SOULS Shoe Drive!!!

Student Leadership is collecting gently worn or new shoes of any type.
Donation bins are located in front of the Leadership Office and will soon be
in the C-gallery and G/H breezeway. Please help us reach our goal of 800
pairs of shoes. 

 

CLUBS

1. On Tuesday, September 30th Junior Statesmen of America will be having a
debate about whether Ray Rice should be kicked out of the NFL. Go by Mr.
Miller's room, C128 at lunch time for a good debate and free pizza. For more
info call Leo Meier at 510-316-0532.

 

2. If you want to make a difference in the community then join the
Compassionate Leaders. Take action on a social justice cause of your choice
by collaborating with an awesome group of diverse BHS students. Your work
will be seen by thousands of people in Berkeley and Oakland. Sign up at
compassionateleaders.org or attend the meeting on October 1st from 3:45 to
5:45 in room H211.

 

3. Come join the Aikido Club. It is open to everyone, students, staff, and
parents. They meet on Thursdays at 3:45 in Room C-134 and walk to the dojo
on 1514 University Ave. Class starts at 4pm which lasts till 5pm. No
experience is necessary and all you need is a t-shirt and athletic pants to
train and have fun. For more information email Mr. Morales at
RolandoMorales at berkeley.net or come by to Room C-134.

 

PERFORMANCES

BHSJazz at Lunch: Come check out this Friday, October 3rd: Benny Bock (piano),
Max Schwartz (bass), and Tim Angulo (drums).Tables and chairs provided for
your listening enjoyment. Bring a lunch and your friends and enjoy the
beautiful sunshine while listening to great live music.
