Estimadas Familias de Berkeley High,

Muchos de ustedes han expresado su preocupación por los próximos viernes 
y una tradición de iniciación de los estudiantes de primer año. Queremos 
dejar claro que no toleramos intimidación, burlas, o acoso de nuestros 
estudiantes.

La comunidad y la escuela Berkeley High han estado trabajando 
intensamente para eliminar esta tradición y en los últimos años, hemos 
tenido muy pocos casos de intimidación en contra de estudiantes en la 
escuela. Ha habido algunos incidentes de estudiantes lanzando huevos a 
los estudiantes del noveno año fuera de la escuela durante el almuerzo y 
después de clases. La Policía de Berkeley esta al tanto y están 
proporcionando patrullas adicionales. Nuestros oficiales de seguridad de 
la escuela, administradores, y personal también están prestando 
atención especial a los pasillos, baños y áreas periféricas de la escuela.

Los estudiantes que participen en actos de intimidación a otros 
estudiantes en su camino a la escuela, durante el día escolar, o después 
de la escuela se les dará una suspensión automática de 5 días y pueden 
enfrentar cargos criminales. Si su hijo está siendo intimidado mientras 
está dentro o fuera de la escuela le recomendamos ponerse en contacto 
con la oficina del Director encargado de disciplina al 644-8985 o 
644-6675. Su hijo también puede ir a la Oficina de Intervención en la 
escuela (OCI) ubicado en el salón H104 para presentar un reporte de 
incidente si algo sucede. Los incidentes que ocurran fuera de la escuela 
deben ser reportados al Departamento de Policía de Berkeley, que 
investigará y posiblemente perseguirá procesos penales.

Padres de familia, por favor tengan una conversación con sus hijos sobre 
la importancia del respeto hacia todos sus compañeros. También pare que 
le den la bienvenida a todos nuestros nuevos estudiantes y para que 
continúen haciendo lo correcto al no participar en acciones de 
intimidación o acoso a otros estudiantes. Este comportamiento va a 
terminar cuando los individuos y la comunidad decidan dejar de 
perjudicar a los demás y en su lugar opten por apoyarse mutuamente. Por 
favor hable con su niño para unirse a ese movimiento.

Dear Berkeley High Families,

Many of you have expressed concern about the next several Fridays and a 
tradition of hazing freshman. We want to state clearly that we do not 
tolerate bullying, hazing, or harassment of our students.


The community and Berkeley High have been working very hard to eliminate 
this tradition and in recent years we have had very few reported 
incidences of a student being hazed ON CAMPUS. There have been some 
reports of off campus egg throwing at lunch and after school. Berkeley 
Police are aware and are providing extra patrols on Fridays.Our Campus 
Safety Officers, Administrators, and Staff are also giving extra 
attention to hallways, bathrooms, and areas peripheral to the school.

Students who are caught participating in hazing on their way to school, 
during the school day, or after school will be given an automatic 5-day 
suspension and may face criminal charges. If your child is being 
intimidated while on or off campus, we encourage you to contact the 
Dean's Office at 644-8985 or 644-6675. Your child can also come in to 
OCI (H104) to file an incident report if something occurs. Off campus 
incidents should be reported to the Berkeley Police Department, who will 
investigate and potentially pursue criminal prosecution.


Parents, please have a conversation with your children about respecting 
and welcoming all of our new students and continuing to do the right 
thing by not participating in hazing. This behavior will die off when 
individuals and the community choose to stop hurting each other and 
instead choose to support each other. Please urge your child to join 
that movement.
