After careful consideration, the Superintendent and the Board of 
Education, appointed an interim administrative team to lead Berkeley 
High School for the 2014-2015 school year. This decision is based on 
their confidence in the current administrative team at BHS, coupled with 
their commitment to conduct a national search for the next principal 
beginning in the early fall.

With a strong team remaining at BHS for the 2014-2015 school year, BUSD 
and BHS have the time to engage in a thorough search to identify 
candidates with the complex competencies and skills that the position 
requires and the willingness to make a long-term commitment to serve in 
this position.

For the 2014-2015 school year, current Vice-Principal* Kristin Glenchur 
will serve as the Interim Principal*.  Kristin has been a vice-principal 
at BHS for the past six years and previously served as the school's 
Athletic Director from 2003-2008.  Kristin taught English at BHS from 
1991-1997, and then taught physical education at Encinal High School in 
Alameda before returning to BHS in 2003.

The other members of the administrative team at BHS next year include 
Vice Principals Ashley Milton, Jorge Melgoza, and Daniel Roose, all of 
whom are returning, as well as Dean of Students Ardarius McDonald.  In 
addition, Diane Colborn will continue as the Special Education Manager.

We are also pleased to announce that *Erin Schweng* will remain with the 
team for the 2014-2015 school year as an *Interim Vice Principal, 
*covering Ms. Glenchur's position*.* Erin has served as an interim Vice 
Principal at BHS since January of this year, and has formed positive and 
productive relationships with the community and students.  Erin has 
served BUSD for 15 years as a middle school and elementary teacher, as 
well as a district-level math coach, and also worked in the Department 
of Evaluation and Assessment.

BHS is also currently in the process of filling the position of Dean of 
Attendance, vacated with Daniel Roose's promotion to vice principal.

We look forward to the 2014-2015 school year and to the deepening of the 
current initiatives and positive trends at BHS that this team will 
facilitate given the experience it brings and the continuity and 
stability it will provide.
