SENIORS

*1. 2014 University of California University-wide Analytical Writing
Placement Examination (AWPE): The UC will administer the AWPE on Saturday,
May 10 to students who have been admitted to the University for Fall 2014
and who, by April 1, 2014, have not satisfied the Entry Level Writing
Requirement by other means.

In early April, students will receive a letter directing them to the test
center at which they must take the test. Comprehensive information about the
Entry Level Writing Requirement and the Analytical Writing Placement
Examination is available online at www.ucop.edu/elwr.

In mid-June, students can log in to their campus's admission website to
check whether or not they have passed the exam. Results of the exam will
not affect a student's admission to the university.

*2. CSU Placement Test Requirement: Most CSUs have a deadline in the first
week of May. Students who fail to meet the deadline will not be allowed to
enroll in the fall of 2014! May 3rd is the final testing opportunity for
most CSUs. If you have not yet fulfilled this requirement, register today on
the web at <http://www.ets.org/csu> www.ets.org/csu.

CSU Early Start Requirement: The CSU system recently enacted a policy known
as "Early Start" requiring incoming students who do not demonstrate
readiness for college-level math and/or English to begin remediation during
the summer before coming to the CSU. For questions, please contact the CSU
you plan on attending.

* Early Start is required for incoming students who have not
fulfilled the Entry Level Math and/or English Placement Test proficiency
requirements.

* The program takes place the summer before the freshman year.

* Upon admission, CSU campuses will inform students how and
where to sign up for Early Start.

* Early Start math and English courses are available at every
CSU campus, and online.

* Financial aid will be available for those who demonstrate
need.

3. Seniors applying to Community Colleges: Most community college
applications are now open for the fall 2014 semester. Please come to the
CCC for support with applications and registering for assessment tests!

4. SENIOR GRADES COUNT! Whether you are applying to a private
college/university, CSU, UC, or out of state public school, senior year
grades count! While you may be admitted to a college in the winter or early
in the spring, this is traditionally a preliminary or "conditional"
admittance pending receipt of your official senior year grades.
