Berkeley High's Annual Holiday Meal for the Homeless served hundreds of
meals on Saturday, with a long line outside of the building for most of the
afternoon. It took a couple of hundred volunteers to make this happen, and
students, parents, staff, and even alumni students and parents were kept on
the run. One alumni dad said that he just kept coming back every year after
his students graduated. Superintendent Donald Evans dropped by Friday night
to deliver a ham and to thank the volunteers in the kitchen, and School
Board Director Beatriz Leyva-Cutler spent Saturday morning cooking and
decorating the Food Court with her granddaughter.
