The African American Dance Concert is * in EARLY DECEMBER this year * on
Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013-from 7 pm to 9 pm.
Presented by BHS' African American Studies Department at Berkeley Community
Theater on the BHS campus.
This is a family event and children are welcome.
"CULTURE IS STRENGTH" - Experience the diverse backgrounds of BHS youth and
their artistic bursts of fire through dance, music, song, language and
spoken word. Dance genres will include African Diaspora, Modern, Native
American Indian, Praise, Hip-Hop and Persian.
Tickets available at brownpapertickets.com/events/503261. Tickets are $5
for Children, Students with ID, Seniors & BUSD Staff; $8 for General; and
$12 for Reserved. BHS Teachers are FREE with BHS ID. Wheelchair
accessible. Box office opens at 5:30 pm; theater doors open approximately
6:30 pm.
Come feel young, happy and energized by a variety of cultural experiences to
satisfy everyone's performing tastes and interests. The Fall 2013 African
Diaspora Dance Concert is a collaboration of BHS' performing arts teachers
and students from the African American dance program, AHA's Modern dance,
Ms. Betty's Native American Indian Dancers, and Mr. Omwamba's African
American literature students. Guest artists: Diamano Coura West African
Dance Company.
