*Date: October 13, 2013*
*Location: Shattuck Avenue, meet at Ecology Center booth at Kittredge
and Shattuck*
*Volunteer Objective:* We are seeking volunteers to help us survey
people at the Sunday Streets event about their transportation modes. The
objective of the survey is to determine whether there was a decrease in
greenhouse gas emissions as a result of Sunday Streets and secondly,
whether this event will influence people to use alternate forms of
transportation in the future.
*Volunteer Description:* Volunteers will be assigned to certain streets
to survey attendees of Sunday Streets. The survey is 8 questions long
and will take approximately 5 minutes. Volunteers will sign up for one
or more of the following shifts:
Shift 1: 10:45 -- 12:45pm
Shift 2: 12:30 - 2:30pm
Shift 3: 2:15 -- 4:15pm
*Attire:* Volunteers will be provided with a name tag. Volunteers should
wear comfortable walking shoes, hat for the sun and a RED t-shirt.
*Contact: *To sign up for a shift, contact Leah Fessenden
leah at ecologycenter.org <mailto:leah at ecologycenter.org>,(510) 548-2220 x235
*About Sunday Streets:* Sunday Streets closes streets to automobile
traffic for a day so that people may use the space for other physical
and social activities. The streets become parks as people replace car
traffic. People walk, bike, skate and dance and play. Everyone from
businesses and community organizations to musicians and artists use the
space creatively, engaging the public and providing spontaneity and
discovery.
