ADMINISTRATION
1. Buy PE uniforms before school, at lunch and after school at the girl's
locker room in the Jacket Gym. Shirts & shorts are $10 each. Sweatpants are
$15.
2. SUMMER PE Waivers are due to the attendance office on September 13th. No
exceptions!
3. Make-up Picture Day for students and staff is on Wednesday, September 11,
afterschool in the Community Theater Lobby.
4. All STAFF should have parking permits on their cars. Cars without permits
will be towed.
5. Boost your GPA with a Monday afternoon (7th Period) class on Nonviolence.
Half the class time and half the work. Interested? Email rcr at berkeley.net
SENIORS
1. Seniors ONLY! Free SAT Prep classes will be offered Tuesday and Thursdays
in the College Career Center (D221) from 3:40 to 5:40 PM starting 9/17. Free
ACT Prep classes will be offered Mondays and Wednesdays in the College
Career Center (D221) from 3:40 to 5:40 PM starting 9/17. For more
information go to D221.
2. This week's College Career Center (CCC) Presentation Schedule is as
follows: Thursday 9/12 at lunch M.I.T., Thursday during 5th period Eugene
Lang College, The New School. Seniors may obtain permissions slips from the
CCC.
LEADERSHIP
Freshmen class of 2017 - JOIN student leadership to get a look at how BHS
operates. Applications for President, Vice President and other positions are
available in the Leadership office by the cafeteria.
CLUBS
1. Ever heard of Kiva.org or microlending? Want to help people all over the
world? Come to Kiva Club's first meeting tomorrow, September 10 in C232 at
lunch.
2. Are you in need of service hours? Want to make a difference in your
community? Come to Key Club on Mondays at lunch in room C115.
3. Interested in getting your voice heard? Apply to be a Fall columnist for
the Jacket! Pick up an application in C400 or on BHSJacket.com under "Join
Our Staff." Email AshleyAlexander367 at gmail.com if you have any questions!
4. Want to join a unique club at Berkeley High? Then join the Muslim Youth
Club on Fridays in room C106 at lunch. All are welcome!
5. Do you play the ukulele? Want to learn? Come to the Ukulele Club on
Thursdays at lunch in room A105. No ukulele required!
6. BHS Health Center's peer health education program, SHIFT - (Sexual Health
Information from Teens) - needs new members! As a SHIFT member you'll learn
everything there is to know to educate your peers about healthy
relationships, decision making, and sexual health. Make new friends, earn
class credit, and get paid. Stop by the Health Center to pick up an
application. Applications are due September 20th. Don't miss out on this
amazing opportunity.
7. First meeting for BHS's California Scholarship Federation will be held on
Friday, September 13th at lunch in the CCC. California Scholarship
Federation is a service-based organization that helps raise money to provide
college scholarships to low-income students. Meeting will provide general
info about goals and requirements for the fall semester.
SPORTS
Boys Basketball - Mandatory Meeting: Students planning to tryout this year
must attend the meeting with a parent/guardian on Wednesday, September 11
from 7pm to 8:30pm. The meeting is in the College & Career Center (D221).
MISC.
