ATTENTION SENIORS
SAVE THE DATE: Wednesday, September 18 at 6:30 pm in the BHS Library -
Senior Parent College Information Night - the how-to's of applying.
Senior Profile: Due no later than September 5 at 4 pm, in the College and
Career Center (D-221). This form is only for students applying to colleges
that require a counselor recommendation. (The UCs and Cal States don't
require recommendations.)
College Essay Readers Available: Starting September 9, there will be a
college essay reader in the College/Career Center during lunch.
*College Advisor's Class Presentations: Throughout Sep. 9th - 20th, Ms.
Price and Mr. Barton will be conducting class presentations to cover
important aspects of the college application process. Students will all
receive a folder, complete with important information regarding the fall
semester and the college application process.
Advising Appointments for Seniors
*Sign-up sheets are now available in the College & Career Center. Seniors
may also drop in any day at lunch or after 6th period without an appointment
to have shorter questions answered. College Advisor assignments: Ms. Price
- BIHS and AC students with last names L-Z. Mr. Barton - AHA, AMPS, CAS, GRN
and AC students with last names A-K.
COLLEGE VISITS
Many college representatives visit Berkeley High's College and Career Center
every year. Seniors may attend up to 10 of these meetings, with the
permission of the teacher whose class you are missing. Sign up in advance
in the College and Career Center and pick up a permission slip for obtaining
teacher permission. The September list is available at

calendar will be updated regularly. Presentations are added on a daily
basis, so we recommend viewing this calendar once per week.

SAT and ACT registration procedures - photos required during registration!:
To produce an honest and fair test-taking environment for all students and
prevent test-taker impersonation, the College Board (for SAT tests) and the
ACT testing agency (for the ACT) will require enhanced security measures for
all students taking the college entrance tests. Students will be required to
submit a current, recognizable head-and-shoulders photo that will be printed

FREE SAT AND ACT PREP CLASSES (SENIORS ONLY FOR THE FALL SEMESTER):
SAT Prep Class - Begins on Tuesday, September 17 in D220. The class will
meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:40 - 5:40 pm. Students must register
in advance in the College/Career Center (D221). Students can register before
school, during lunch or after school. Limited space is available.
ACT Prep Class - Begins on Monday, September 16 in D220. The class will
meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:40 - 5:40 pm. Students must register
in advance in the College/Career Center (D221). Students can register before
school, during lunch or after school. Limited space is available.
JUNIORS & SENIORS
*SAT 101: Stay tuned for information regarding an intense, two-day workshop
on the SAT, hosted by Princeton Review in partnership with the Berkeley High
School College & Career Center. This opportunity is tentatively scheduled
for the morning of September 21st and the afternoon of September 28th.
Registration will take place through Princeton Review, with an enrollment
fee of $99 per student. Students who qualify for F/R lunch can see Mr.
Barton or Ms. Price for information regarding fee reductions. Please look
for an email announcement regarding further details about this opportunity.
JUNIORS & SOPHOMORES
PSAT REGISTRATION: Berkeley High School is offering the PSAT on October
19th. Registration for Juniors will take place during the week of September
16-20, and Sophomores can register during the week of September 23-27.
Registration will take place during the lunch period at the box office next
to the Donahue Gym. More information will become available early in
September.
ALL GRADE LEVELS
U-CAN FALL HBCU COLLEGE FAIR - 13TH ANNUAL HBCU RECRUITMENT FAIR
Wednesday, September 11, 5:00 - 8:00 pm. Laney College - 900 Fallon Street
- Oakland.
Students who wish to apply and qualify for "on-the-spot" admissions and
scholarships should bring an official transcript, if available, and a copy
of your ACT/SAT test scores, if taken, for each college application you plan
to complete. This event is open to all students. For more information and
