ADMINISTRATION
*1. SUMMER SCHOOL-Wednesday, June 19 - Friday, July 26th. Juniors pick up summer school applications from your counselors.

2. Next year’s AP Biology students need to come and pick up their Summer assignment starting this Thursday, June 6 through Monday, June 10th in G301. Please come!
3. The summer package for AP Spanish Literature and culture is at either Ms. Bugarini (portable 4) or Ms. Ferrer-Castro (portable 1) room. Please stop by and pick them up!
4. If you are taking IB Studio Art next year, please email Ms. D'Adamo or go to A104 for the summer assignment. Thank you.
5. In order to prepare for an electronic health record system, the Health Center will be closed through Friday, June 7th. From Monday, June 10th through Friday June 14th, the Health Center will not open until 11 am. We apologize for the inconvenience.
6. Yearbooks will be handed out today at lunch and after school on the Senior steps. Yearbooks will also be sold there for $85. Buy soon! There are only 100 books left! If you are running out of signature space, you can buy an insert for just $3!
7. Turn in your textbooks to the textbook room now to beat the rush! The Textbook room is open and accepting books before school at 8am, during lunch, after school until 4:30pm. See you soon!
8. Summer PE waivers are available for pick up in the Attendance Office now. They are due back, with the letter, by 6/21/13. Some guidelines to remember are below:
YMCA: IF the student will be completing their requirements at the YMCA, they do not need to pick up a waiver from the Attendance Office. Instead they must attend one of the YMCA Orientations: 6/10 or 6/12 from 3:30 PM to 4:15 PM. If you have questions regarding the YMCA please contact Minx Manuel at 510-984-4099 or mmanuel at ymca-cba.org
SENIORS
1. Seniors must attend a Graduation meeting on Tuesday, June 11 in the community theater. The 1'oclock meeting will cover the schedule, the responsibilities as well as the expectations for day of graduation. See you on Tuesday.
2. Congratulations Seniors on your Big Achievement! Tickets for your graduation ceremony are on sale now. All graduates receive two free tickets that can be picked up in the Registrar’s Office. Additional tickets are available through UC Berkeley by Purchasing online at tickets.berkeley.edu. By phone at 510-642-9988 or in person at the Zellerbach Playhouse. For the first week students are limited to purchasing three tickets. Ticket prices are as follows: Regular bowl seats-$20; reduced lunch bowl seats are $8; regular lawn seats are $15; and reduced lunch lawn seats are $7.
3. Diplomas will be mailed during the week of July 14, 2013. You will need to provide your SUMMER MAILING ADDRESS if different from the one currently on file at Berkeley High School. You will need to provide the updated address to the Registrar’s office at lunchtime and after school (ONLY) until 3:45 pm, Monday through Friday from now until June 14, 2013.
JUNIORS
1. College Essay Writing-
What: College Essay Writing Workshop for Juniors
When: Monday, June 17, Tuesday June 18th (full), and Wednesday, June 19
Time: 10:30am -3:30 pm (there will be breaks, food, and drinks)
Where: College Center, D221
Sign up: Beginning, Monday June 3-Friday, June 14th, College Center, D221. Students will be allowed to sign up for only one of the workshops. PLEASE NOTE that the workshop on Tuesday the 18th is full.
The workshops will focus on completing the Senior Profile and working on the following:
University of California (UC) Essays, Common Application Essay, EOP Essay.
The Workshops will be conducted by Elena Wong, regional Associate Director of Admission Drew University. Ms. Wong will be assisted by Janet Huseby and her team of essay readers.
SPORTS
* 1. Basketball- Open gym for all students will be held this Tuesday and Thursday from 5:00-6:30pm.
2. Fall athletes, your Spring grades determine your eligibility for Fall Sports! You must have a 2.0 with no more than one F to be eligible. While summer school can improve your GPA, you cannot turn in late work to change a grade after the Spring semester ends to get eligible. Now is the time to take care of your academic business so you can play for BHS next fall!
3. Attention! Are you interested in playing Football for the 2013-2014 Season? A Mandatory Parent(s)/ Guardians. Meeting for ALL interested students will be held, Monday, June 10, 2013 at 6pm in the BHS Stadium bleachers. Have your parent(s)/guardian(s) come to meet the coaching staff and receive important information about BHS’s Football Program.
OTHER OPPORTUNITIES
Berkeley Public Library: Alateen is Springing up in Berkeley! 11:45 am -12:15pm (during BHS Lunch Period) on 4th Fridays. Next meeting is June 28th at the Berkeley Public Library 2090 Kittredge St. 3rd Floor Community Meeting Room. Alateen is for young people whose lives have been affected by someone else’s drinking. Great 12 steps of support! Free and Confidential.
JOBS
1. Summer Swim JOBS

Weekly stipend, must be 15 or 16 years old. Must be available for weekdays and Saturdays.
2. The Berkeley Unified Technology department is looking for a part-time soph or junior student to work this summer (8 hours/week) and in the next school year (after school 4 hours/week) at 2020 Bonar St, the school district office. Reliable student must enjoy math/science type subjects. We will train. To qualify for funding must be eligible for free or reduced lunch. Send a resume to techstudents at berkeley.net by Friday, June 7.
