*New to the bulletin today
 

ADMINISTRATION

 

*1. Attention all students: Berkeley High's Library will be closed at lunch
this Friday, May 31 for an extremely important faculty meeting.  Make sure
plan ahead and make other arrangements printing and computer needs!

 

*2. Wear a red shirt and come to the senior steps on Friday, May 31 at lunch
to celebrate "World No Tobacco Day!" Get help quitting, win prizes, and have
fun!  Learn about tobacco and marijuana!  We'll see you there!

 

3. In order to prepare for an electronic health record system, the Health
Center will be closed through Friday, June 7th.  From Monday, June 10th
through Friday June 14th, the Health Center will not open until 11 am.  We
apologize for the inconvenience.

 

 
SENIORS
 
*1. Congratulations Seniors on your Big Achievement!  Tickets for your
graduation ceremony are on sale now.  All graduates receive two free tickets
that can be picked up in the Registrar's Office.  Additional tickets are
available through UC Berkeley by Purchasing online at tickets.berkeley.edu.
By phone at 510-642-9988 or in person at the Zellerbach Playhouse.  For the
first week students are limited to purchasing three tickets.  Ticket prices
are as follows: Regular bowl seats-$20; reduced lunch bowl  seats are $8;
regular lawn seats are $15; and reduced lunch lawn seats are $7.

 

2. Diplomas will be mailed during the week of July 14, 2013. You will need
to provide your SUMMER MAILING ADDRESS if different from the one currently
on file at Berkeley  High School. You will need to provide the updated
address to the Registrar's office at lunchtime and after school (ONLY) until
3:45 pm, Monday through Friday from now until June 14, 2013.
 
3.  AC Graduation is happening!  An informal graduation for all AC seniors
will be happening on June 4th from 4-6:30pm.  Bring your parents and
siblings to this casual event on the campus green!  Last names A-G please
bring drinks, H-O please bring sides, P-Z please bring desserts!  We hope to
see you all there on June 4th.
 
 
JUNIORS
 
SUMMER SCHOOL - Wednesday, June 19-Friday, July 26th.   Juniors pick up
summer school applications from your counselors. 
 

SPORTS
 
1. Fall athletes, your Spring grades determine your eligibility for Fall
Sports!  You must have a 2.0 with no more than one F to be eligible.  While
summer school can improve your GPA, you cannot turn in late work to change a
grade after the Spring semester ends to get eligible.  Now is the time to
take care of your academic business so you can play for BHS next fall!
 
*2. Basketball - Open gym for all students will be held this Tuesday and
Thursday from 5:00-6:30

 

 
EVENTS/PERFORMANCES
 
*1. Berkeley High Dance Production presents our final show of the year:
"What Do You Dance For?"  FEATURING GUEST CHOREOGRAPHERS: DarVejon Jones,
Nina Haft & Bianca Cabrera

Friday & Saturday      May 31 & June 1

8pm sharp!  $5 student   $12 Gen

Friday night = pay what you can!

*2. Do not miss the Berkeley High Jazz benefit concert at Ashkenaz on May 30
at 7:00 pm (doors open at 6:30 pm).  You'll hear a band of Berkeley Jazz
alumni, including current BHS Jazz director Sarah Cline, directed by former
BHS Jazz director Charles Hamilton.  Our student combos with alumni guests
sitting in will also perform.  $20 adult $8 youth (under 18) /seniors.
Children 10 and under-free and all ages are welcome.  All proceeds benefit
BHS Jazz.  Don't wait to get your tickets at the door - this event could
sell out.  Tickets can be purchased online at:

OTHER OPPORTUNITIES

1. Berkeley Public Library: Alateen is Springing up in Berkeley! 11:45 am
-12:15pm (during BHS Lunch Period) on 4th Fridays. Those dates are May 24th
and June 28th at the Berkeley Public Library 2090 Kittredge St. 3rd Floor
Community Meeting Room. Alateen is for young people whose lives have been
affected by someone else's drinking. Great 12 steps of support! Free and
Confidential.

 

2. INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY: If you are interested in environmental issues and
have some time this summer for some fun and meaningful work, this internship
is for YOU! The Victory Garden Foundation and City of Berkeley are seeking
FOUR inspired, passionate BERKELEY HIGH SCHOOL youth for an exciting summer
