*New to the bulletin today
 
ADMINISTRATION

*1. Star Testing - April 23-26th - schedules are posted around the campus and at the front office.

*2. SAT Practice test. Given at the Princeton Review Office Located on Durant and Telegraph. Sign up in the BHS Colleges and Career center. Beginning today-Thursday, April 18th $20.00 fee for test.  Pick up registration form in the College Center in D221. Test will be given on Saturday, April 20th  9:00 am – 1:15 pm (Cannot be late).. be sure to bring your calculator, ater, snack and pencils!  Test results: Thursday, April 25 from 6-7 pm.    
 
3. Don’t forget to purchase this year’s yearbook!  There are only 80 books left!  Don’t get left out!  Seniors can get their Freshman and Senior yearbooks for $100, or their Freshman, Sophomore and Senior yearbooks for $150 in C327 after school.

*4. Attention all students- Course Changes: Changes to Course requests this week only in the library at 3:30 pm -4:15 pm.  Don’t delay!!

*5. Attention African American and Latino Male students!  There is a very important Leadership forum on Saturday, April 13 from 8am – 1 pm. At the BHS Community Theatre.  After the Keynote Speaker there will be workshops for students and parents.  The event is free and come to the main office for more information.
 
*6. BHS Health Fair Announcement - Calling all Berkeley High students!  Encourage your teachers to bring your class to the Health Center’s Tenth Annual Health and wellness fair this Friday, April 12th.  Join us on the football field to play games, meet community health workers from a wide variety of organizations, and learn about the health and wellness issues that affect you!  The fair is only accessible to students attending with a class 1st through 6th period (and closed during lunch). See you there!


SENIORS

*1. The Great Gatsby Senior Ball is May 4th at the SF Metreon.  Do you have your ticket?  Prom ticket sales are going on at lunch and afterschool on the Senior Steps.  Prices are now $85.  Please cash or money orders only.  We are also taking song requests. Seniors and Juniors come down to Prom tickets today!!

*3. Seniors and teachers of graduating students, please help spread the word. There is a Senior class meeting on Tuesday, April 16th during sixth period in the Community Theatre.  Class of 2013 will get important information and dates for your last 3 months at Berkeley High.  See you Tuesday, the 16th at sixth period.

* 4.  Seven years ago the Berkeley Development Group published the first edition of the Berkeley Book of College Essays- True Admissions.  We are now working on our third edition. The book, a wonderful collection of essays written by BHS students over the years, is a fund raiser for the College and Career Center.  We would like to update the book by adding some more current essays and would be very happy if you were to submit your essay for consideration by mailing to janethuseby at berkeley.net or giving it to Janet in the front office.


LEADERSHIP

*1. Applications for next year leadership team have opened!  You could be the next Commissioner of the Arts or even be the Resident DJ?  Pick up an application in the Leadership office. Applications are open now through May 8th.


CLUBS 

*1. Do you like graphic novels, comic books, or manga?  Come to the library Thursday, April 11th, at lunch and check out the brand new BHS Comix Club.  Help us pick out which graphic novel to read first, talk about your favorite comics, and even practice drawing your own.  Bring your lunch!  Some snacks will be provided.


OPPORTUNITIES/JOBS

*1. Medical Services Corps (EMS Corps) is currently accepting applications for our July 2013 class.  The purpose of the program is to increase the number of underrepresented emergency medical technicians through youth development and
job training. EMS Corps is a 5 month paid (stipend) program for young men between the ages of 18 to 24. EMS Corps students will be trained and educated through daily classes, tutoring, Life Coaching, mentorship support, physical
fitness, and will also participate in professional and career development workshops.If you know of any young men between the ages of 18-24 who may be interested in participating in our program, please have them fill out the application below. The
