Congratulations to Berkeley High Jazz Combo A -- Liam Collins, Hugo
Shiboski, Sam Klein-Markman, Michael Orenstein, Max Schwartz and Marcelo
Bourque-Perez -- for winning first place in the High School Combo Division
at the Monterey Next Generation Jazz Festival yesterday.  As a result, Combo
A has been invited to play at the Monterey Jazz Festival this September.  

 

Further congratulations to Michael Orenstein for winning two solo awards and
to Hugo Shiboski who was awarded a full tuition scholarship to attend a
summer jazz program in Lafayette.  

 

Sam Klein-Markham and Elena Pinderhughes played in the SF Jazz High School
All Stars Orchestra as well which won first place in the Conglomerate Big
Band Division.
