Tonight, in the Berkeley High School Library, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.,
parents have a rare opportunity to learn from and ask their most pressing
questions to a panel of experts from all three entities that work together
to prevent and resolve the bullying and sexual harassment issues that arise
in our school community -- school, district, and police. Speakers will be
the BHS Intervention Counselor, the BUSD Director of Student Services, and
the BHS School Resource Officer of the Berkeley Police Department.
Information regarding sexual harassment (including cyber-sexual harassment)
and bullying will include recent trends, district policy, law, and reporting
procedures. The program will also address action steps and support for
victims and witnesses and consequences for engaging in sexual harassment and
bullying. There will be time for questions and answers.
Light refreshments will be provided. Childcare is available if requested
in advance to BUSD Office of Student Services, 644-6316.
Sponsored by the BUSD Sexual Harassment Advisory Committee and the BHS
anti-bullying and harassment subcommittee of the Safety Committee.
For further information, see the Sexual Harassment Overview in the BUSD
Parent-Student Handbook, visit BUSD's website at www.berkeleyschools.net
<http://www.berkeleyschools.net/> to view BUSD's sexual harassment and/or
anti-bullying policy or contact BUSD Student Services at 644-6316.
