*New to the bulletin today

ADMINISTRATION

 

*1. The California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) will be Tuesday, Feb. 5
and Wednesday, Feb. 6. This is a requirement for graduation and all
sophomores are required to take the exam on both days.  Students who do not
pass the exam will have other opportunities to retake the portion that they
do not pass during their junior or senior year.  If your last name begins
with the letter "A-L" then report to the Donahue Gym.  If your last name
begins with the letters "M-Z" report to the Jacket Gym. All 10th graders
should report to Berkeley High by 7:30 am on both days.  Students will
return to their regular scheduled class once they finish.

*2. OCI would like to give a shout out to Tala in the 10th grade and David
in the 11th for doing the right thing and turning in a lost phone AND a
wallet.  We appreciate students doing the right thing- I mean, this is
sooooooooooooo refreshing.  You know if it was you you would want it back.
Way to go Tala and David- you rock!

 

 

3. BSEP Applications are available! Pick one up or get it online. Deadline
for the Applications is February 25, 2013 at 12 noon.

 

 

 

LEADERSHIP

 

*1. Throwback Dinner ticket sales this week!  Pick up your $25 Ticket for
this great event with food, ice cream, performances and more.  Come enjoy an
evening all dressed up with your friends. Please remember that you must at
least have a 2.0 GPA and no more than 30 period absences. The dress is
semi-formal and there will be no ticket sales at the door.  This event is
for all BHS students.  Tickets sold in the leadership office.

 

2.  Be a leader and get involved with the school leadership program.  Become
a Vice-President, President or come up with a new position.  Applications
have opened for leadership positions for next year.  Grab one now through
March 1st in the leadership office!

 

 

CLUBS

 

*Stewards of the Sea Club, a newly formed organization at Berkeley High, is
asking for new members! Stewards of the Sea Club's goal is to participate in
local coastal cleanups. The club will meet at the Shorebird Nature Center in
Berkeley on scheduled weekends and also work with members of the Berkeley
Yacht Club to clean up the bay and maintain the beauty and cleanliness of
our local coastal shores! Members will be expected to attend a coastal
cleanup at least once every six months. This club is a great way to earn
community service hours and a way to locally help the environment! If at all

SPORTS

 

1. Attention all athletes and their families, A new shipment of letters for
Letterman Jackets has arrived. They are for sale in the Athletic Director's
office (J207, in the new stadium). The best time to come purchase letters is
during lunch and right after school.

2. Girls Lacrosse Team - Parent Meeting with Coaches. Wednesday, February
13th at 7:00 pm in the Parent Resource Center - D224.

EVENTS / PERFORMANCES

Dante Ryan and David Marcus, members of the Freshman class and their band,
The Newcomers, will be having a gig on Friday, February 8th at Slims, a club
in San Francisco from 8-11pm. Tickets are $13.  Come to hear and support
local music. More info can be found on the Newcomers Facebook page or on the
Slims website.

 

 

TEEN SERVICES

 

*1.  Does writing, poetry, drawing or photography interest you?  Then join
the Teen Center's newsletter!  We publish once a month and have a lot of fun
doing it.  Stop by the Teen Center across the park on MLK and Center for
more information.

 

*2.  Make art? Come showcase your art at the Teen Center!  There will be an
art show on February 20th!
