The BHS Band & Orchestra Winter Concert 2012 was a great success, and I
encourage everyone to enjoy all eight video samplers. I do want to draw your
attention to Sampler Seven. Composer Michael Senturia's Recitative and Elegy
for Cello and Strings, and soloist William Cayanan, whose incredible talent
speaks for all of these outstanding musicians at BHS are a treat, just in
time for the holidays. Michael Senturia has composed a number of pieces for
the BHS Band and Orchestra over the years, written specifically for the
range of instruments and students in the current orchestra. Also check out
guest conductors Derek Tam and Dylan Moor and the chorus in Sampler Four.
Special thanks to Derek and Dylan and the Berkeley Community Chorus and
Orchestra. Co-Directors Karen Wells and Mary Dougherty have done a
magnificent job again.
