Berkeley High School Site Council 

November 20, 2012, 4:15 - 5:45 p.m., Conference Room B, D Building

Meeting Agenda

 

Ten minutes are set aside at the beginning of the meeting for members of the
BHS community to give comments to the School Site Council.  If time runs
out, people can submit further comments in writing to the SSC Chair or
Secretary.

 

Beginning Business Items (Decision) -- 5 minutes

.   SGC Members sign in

.   Establish a quorum

.   Approve agenda

 

Comments from members of the BHS Community (Information) -- 10 minutes

 

Principal's Update (Information) -- 5 minutes

 

2012-2013 Single Plan for Student Achievement: 

Review Plan with Daniel Roose; vote on Plan.  (Information, Discussion,
Decision) -- 15 minutes

Develop protocol for SSC's oversight work on each of the five SPSA Goals.
Possible protocol:

     i) Identify and review educational research that school relied upon in
concluding that its     action items should achieve its goals. 

    ii) Confirm very specifically that the action items are being carried
out.

    iii) Evaluate impact of the action items.  Learn how school is planning
to measure whether action items are achieving goals.  Determine whether
other measures of effectiveness are needed.  (Discussion) -- 30 minutes

Discuss how committee should carry out this work.   Discuss possible use of
subcommittee(s) and/or Program Evaluation Advisory Committee for some of
this work. (Discussion) -- 15 minutes

Determine who would be interested in working on each goal.  (Discussion) --
5 minutes

 

Discuss agenda for next meeting and assign time at future meetings to
discuss each of the goals (Discussion) -- 5 minutes, Co-Chairs with
Secretaries

 

The formal meeting will adjourn half an hour earlier than normal to allow
those members who remain to meet informally, in subcommittee groupings or in
workshop mode, to discuss next steps.
