2. BSEP Applications for 2012-2013 school year are now available. You can pick up a printed copy or get one electronically.
3. Friday, January 20th is an Advisory Day Schedule.
4. Students with 2 or more overdue books will not be able to purchase tickets to the Winter Ball. Please check under your bed and get those books back to the textbook room! Check with Ms. Reed (Mon. thru Thurs.) if you have any questions.
5. BART tickets for the month of January are here.
You can have your child pick them up in D224, LUNCH TIME ONLY! (11:38-12:18)
February BART ticket orders will be on January 18-19.

7. Seeking Mathworks Coordinator. If you are a sophomore or junior looking for a leadership position for next year, have a good organizational sense, like working with middle school students and are

SENIORS
Scholarship Opportunity for seniors: The Berkeley Community Fund provides 4-year scholarships and mentoring support for academically talented and resilient Berkeley high school students. Seniors interested in finding out how to apply for this scholarship are invited to attend a meeting this Thursday, January 19, during lunch in the college and career center (D221).
CLUBS/FUNDRAISERS
1.Do you like to ski and/or snowboard? Do you want to relieve your post-finals stress in a fun and healthy way? Then you should come on the BHS ski and snowboard trip sponsored by Go Ahead, Shred! The trip is January 30th, the Monday after finals. For more information, check out our flyers posted all over school and come to the information meeting on Thursday, 1/20/2012.
2. Stressed out about finals? Wouldn’t you love some candy? Send a candy gram to your friends or to yourself! APIC is selling Lunar New Year Candy grams this week everyday at lunch in the C-building gallery. Candy grams will be delivered the Friday before finals.
*3. Come to the homeless support club’s bake sale this Thursday at lunch in the C-building gallery. There will be cookies, brownies, and lots and lots of cupcakes! All proceeds will be donated to the homeless shelter.
*4. Come to Earphone English today at lunch in C124. We’ll be reading “Catching Fire”.
*5. Interested in a health career? Then come join HOSA. It’s a great way to get a jump start towards your future. It will look great on College Applications and resumes! Meetings are every Thursday at 3:40 pm in room G203. Hope to see you there!
SPORTS
1.Looking for a spring sport? Join Men’s and women’s crew! Come to G305 for information.
2. Softball conditioning begins Jan.17-at 3:45 on the track. We will then condition Tue/Thur/Fri at 3:45. Tryouts begin Feb.6 at Grove Park for those girls who have complete athletic packets.
3. The following team sports compete during the spring season and begin on Monday, February 6, 2012:
Badminton, Baseball, Crew (boys and girls), Golf (boys), Lacrosse (boys and girls), Softball, Swimming (boys and girls), Tennis (boys), Track and Field (boys and girls), and Volleyball (boys).
Students must have an athletic packet including medical examination. Athletic packets may be picked up in the athletic office Mon.-Fri. from 3:30-6:00. Submit completed packets in the athletic office or bring paperwork to the Athletic Packet Clearing Night on Thursday, February 2 anytime between 5:30-7:00 PM in the BHS Library.

4. The Berkeley High School Cheerleading Squad will hold their First Annual Crab Feed Fundraiser! Saturday, February 4, 2012, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Willard Middle School, 2425 Stuart St., Berkeley, CA . Donation is $50 per person. You can buy your ticket from any B.H.S. Cheerleader or B.H.S. Cheer Coach. Come and enjoy Hot/Cold Fresh Cracked Crab, Pasta, Salad and Garlic Bread, Live entertainment, Raffles, Door Prizes and more. Tickets go on sale TODAY!! Please come and support or teams in this fundraising event to raise funds to attend the USA Spirit Nationals. *6. New and returning swimmers and divers: There will be a short meeting at lunchtime on Friday, January 20, at the swimming pool bleachers. Come and sign up, get some information and an athletic packet. Practices start in three weeks.
*7. Anyone interested in being on the BHS Badminton team should plan to attend a short meeting about the upcoming season on Friday, January 20th in the Jacket Gym at 3:30 pm (afterschool).
OTHER
The Spring 2012 PLAY session is starting January 25th and enrollment is now open. The Police and Life Academy for Youth (PLAY) provides an introduction to and in-depth look at local criminal justice and law enforcement practices. Starting, Wednesday, January 25 we will spend 11 sessions covering topics include:
Emergency Preparedess/Build-a-kit
Concepts of Criminal Justice Overview by Alameda District Attorney
Individual Accountability and Civil Rights
Basic Weaponless Defense and Color Code of Awareness
As well as workshops on Crime Scene Investigation focusing on fingerprinting, dispatch responsibilities and much more!
