1. The link we posted last week for the contents of the standard math test
for incoming 8th grade students was incorrect. The proper link is below:
http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/sr/documents/rtqalg1.pdf . The Honors portion
of the placement test covers these standards as well and has some more
problems requiring students to problem solve and synthesize mathematical
content.

2. After posting the dates for the math placement tests for new-to-BUSD
students we realized that students from at least two schools (Tehiyah and
Black Pine Circle) would not be available on the scheduled dates. So, we
have adjusted our schedule. The new dates for new-to-BUSD students (private
school, parochial school, home school, etc.) math placement test for are as
follows:

Tuesday, April 10 and Wednesday April 18.
Makeup day is Wednesday, May 9th

The makeup test on April 19 has been cancelled. There is no need to call
ahead and reserve a place for any of the tests. Just come with pencil in
hand. The test will take place in the BHS library.

Please note, these tests come after your student is registered and signed up
for classes. A short timeline of the upcoming registration process for
new-to-BUSD students is below:

(Current BUSD students do not have to register but they should plan on
attending the BHS Information Night on the 1st of February.)

1.	Attend the BHS Information Night on Wednesday, Feb. 1 at 7 p.m.
with your student.
2.	Starting January 17 you go online to the district site to
pre-enroll. You must pre-enroll by Feb. 20. The link for pre-enrollment has
not yet been posted. The link will be posted under new families on the BUSD
website (http://www.berkeleyschools.net/). You must pre-enroll before step
3.
3.	The week of Feb. 21 you must go to the district admissions office to
continue the enrollment process by bringing proof of residency, birth
certificate, and registration packet. (The packet may be picked up at the
Berkeley High front office) now or when you go into the district Admissions
office but it will take 30 to 45 minutes to fill in whenever you do it.)
4.	Finally, you and your child will come to BHS to actually input their
preferences for learning communities and electives on one of three days:
March 5, 12, or 19

Good luck for all of the above,
Janet Huseby
