packet) into the College|Career Center.

not need to turn in this blue form.

senior parents).

seniors with their college application essays -- from the UC personal
statement to the Common App.

be in the Library)
Schedule: In general, readers will be available before school most days,
lunch every day and after school every day except Friday.
COLLEGE APPLICATIONS
Cal State Applications can be filed beginning Oct. 1. Be sure to check
deadlines for each campus, as impacted schools may have different deadlines.
Plan on filing all CSU applications by Nov. 30 because 16 of the 23 campuses
are “impacted” this year (more selective and/or closing on Nov. 30).
Website for information about impacted campuses or majors:
http://www.calstate.edu/SAS/impactioninfo.shtml
UC applications can be filed Nov. 1‐30 only, although students can access
the application now and begin to complete and save for Nov. submission.
Do not wait until the end of November to file either your CSU or UC
application. Servers get overloaded and very slow at the end of the month.
The Common Application is now available on the website http://www.commonapp.
org Common Application essay word limit this year is set at 250‐500 words.
For the first time this year, BHS is submitting counselor letters of
recommendation (Secondary School Report) and transcripts online for the
Common App.
It is important that students fill out the School Form information on the
Common Application as soon as possible.
If you are applying to a school that requires a counselor
recommendation/transcript that does NOT use the Common Application (not
including the UCs or CSUs),
see one of the counselors in the College|Career Center, the BHS website, or
your Senior College Handbook for details on providing forms and envelopes
for mailing
school recommendations and transcripts.
*COLLEGE VISTS TO BERKELEY HIGH (for seniors).
Over 100 college representatives visit Berkeley High’s College/Career
Center every year. Seniors may attend up to 10 of those meetings, with the
permission of the
teacher whose class they are missing. The current college visit list and
permission slips are available at the front desk of the administration
building. Please go to the
website for an up-to-date list and for other resources:
http://www.bhs.berkeley.net/index.php?page=finding-a-college Senior English
