College Advisor's Bulletin for SENIORS

SAT WORD OF THE DAY:  BELEAGUER - to harass.  Many celebrities feel that
members of the press unfairly beleaguer them in aggressive attempts to root
out news stories.

 

SENIORS

 

SENIOR PARENT/GUARDIAN NIGHT - Thursday, September 15, 6:30 pm in the
Berkeley High library, Ms. Price will be giving a detailed overview of the
college application process.  This meeting is for parents only.

 

Ms. Price will be speaking to senior English classes beginning Sept. 12.
You will be able to sign up for an individual appointment after the class
presentations are completed. Senior information packets will be given to
each senior during the classroom presentations. Until then, please stop by
at lunch or after school to get your questions answered.

 

SENIOR PROFILES DUE ON MONDAY, Sept. 12 -  If you are applying to private
colleges which need a counselor recommendation, your Senior Profiles are due
on September 12th.  Turn Profiles into Ms. Price in the College Center,
D221. You do NOT need to fill these out if you are applying only to the UCs,
Cal State Universities or community colleges. 

 

College Essay Reader Available:  There is a college essay reader in the
College Center during lunch.

 

COLLEGE VISITS

Over 100 college representatives visit Berkeley High's College/Career Center
every year.  Seniors may attend up to 10 of those meetings, with the
permission of the teacher whose class they are missing.  The current
September college visit list and permission slips will be available Sept. 9,
Building D first floor, information counter near main BHS entrance.  Senior
English teachers also have copies of College visit list and permission
slips.

SAT/ACT TEST DATES - Friday, Sept. 9 is the regular registration deadline
(Sept. 21 is the late registration deadline.) for the October 1 SAT and SAT
subject tests.  Friday, September 16 is the regular registration deadline
(Sept. 30 is the late registration deadline.) for the October 22 ACT.  Fee
waivers for low income students are available in D221. 

 

SAT/ACT Practice Test

Take an SAT or ACT practice test at Berkeley High School Saturday, September
24, 2011, 8:30am-1:30p.m.   

$20.00 (CASH ONLY) Registration deadline: September 22 at 4p.m to the
College|Career Center D221. All proceeds benefit Berkeley HS College|Career
Center.

Registration forms were handed out in Senior English classes.

 

College Center will be closed September 9. Ms. Price will be attending the
University of California College Counselors Conference in Davis.
