Teachers and staff: check out will be Friday, June 17th and Monday, June
20th from 8:30 -12:00 and from 1:00 until 3:00pm in Conference Room B.
Students, please remember to turn in elevator keys by Friday, June 17.

 

*1. SUMMER SCHOOL-You can pick up your class schedules on Tuesday, June
21st in the food court.  The schedules will be available from 12:30-2pm.

 

2. Students who are taking the AP Spanish Literature next year please pick
up the summer assignment next week at portable 4 (Ms Bugarini)

 

3. URGENT!!!! All  students must have the Tdap vaccination in order to
start school in the fall.  If your child has not had this shot, make sure
they get one before September 1.  This is a new policy.  If your child has
had a Tdap shot after the age of seven, please bring proof to BHS
immediately to the health center or the front office.  Thanks for your
cooperation.

 

4. Independent Study Is Now Enrolling! Come to a New Student Orientation
on Monday, June 20 at 8:30 am at the Independent Study campus (2701 MLK
Jr. Way, Room 200) to find out more about the BHS Independent Study
Program.  The program is filling up quickly so come to the orientation to
reserve your spot for next school year!  Call (510) 644-8592 if you have
any questions. 

 

5. Attention all IB Art students- if you are taking IB Art next year for
the first time, please see Ms. D'Adamo in room G103 for your summer
assignment.  Repeat-please see Ms. D'Adamo in G103 for your IB Art summer
assignment.

 

*6. Tutoring for free during the summer: "The Art and Science of
Tutoring," all of whom are undergraduates at UC Berkeley are interested in
tutoring East Bay high school students during the summer.  This service is
free. If anyone is interested please contact the instructor, Raymond
Barglow at 510-486-1050.

 

 

SENIORS

 

1. Attention all incoming AC Seniors who have signed up for AP Lit, the
Summer Reader has arrived!  Please get your copy in Mr. Carton's room,
C213.

 

*2. Senior Hoodies: Purchases can be made with cash or money order made
out to "BHS Senior Class" ($40).  Sorry, no checks are accepted.  They are
sold in the Leadership Office Thursday morning, by the Athletic Ticket
Office from 1-3 pm during graduation ticket sales (if not there they'll be
in the Leadership Office) and at the graduation ceremony just within the
north entrance to the Greek Theater.

 

3. SENIORS - URGENT ATTENTION! Diplomas will be mailed during the week of
July 11, 2011. You will need to provide your SUMMER MAILING ADDRESS if
different from the one currently on file at Berkeley High School . You
will need to provide the updated address to the Registrar's office at
lunch time and after school (ONLY) until 3:45pm, Monday through Friday
from now until June 10, 2011.  If you do not receive your diploma by the
end of July 2011, you will need to check with the registrar's office (room
D173) in August.

 

 

EVENTS

 

Please come out and support the BHS Cheer and Dance teams at the 24th
Annual Berkeley Juneteenth Festival, Sunday, June 26, 2011, 10am - 6:00pm.
Stop by our booth and enjoy our fresh picked Cheer Corn on the Cob from
Dwellers Farms, in Brentwood CA., or how about an ice cold beverage.
We're looking forward to seeing you there.

 

SUMMER

 

*1. Part-time job doing gardening and light construction in North
Berkeley.  Hours flexible and negotiable.  $10.00/Hr.  Call 510 524-7044.

 

*2. Winds Across the Bay announces our Summer Band program!  Open to all
BRASS (trumpet, trombone, baritone, French horn, tuba), WOODWIND (flute,
sax (alto/tenor/baritone), clarinet, bass clarinet, oboe, bassoon), and
PERCUSSION (drums, mallets) players.  All welcome, no auditions necessary
for this 6-week program, on Tuesday evenings from June 28 to August 2nd,
7-8:30 pm, at the Northbrae Community Church in Berkeley.

Winds Across the Bay is a California Non-Profit, founded in 1993 to
promote the joys of instrumental music.    Our summer session is designed
to be less rigorous than our normal season, and could be a great
introduction to our program for younger players who might find our
reputation intimidating.

3. Summer High School Printmaking Intensive at Kala Art Institute,
Berkeley www.Kala.org/CampKala  July 18-29 from 10-4 pm. Students may
enroll in one or both weeks. Tuition assistance is available. Workshops
focus upon four distinct areas and applications of printmaking: drawing
for printmaking, monotypes, bookmaking and experimental printmaking. For
