GRADUATION REHEARSALS

Rehearsals will take place at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 16th in the Community
Theater and at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, June 17th at the Greek Theater. All
seniors who plan to participate in the graduation MUST be present at BOTH
rehearsals.

GRADUATION DAY

On Friday, June 17th, seniors will report promptly to the Greek Theatre at 4
p.m. to line up for graduation. There will be considerable traffic
congestion just before graduation, so it is recommended that students allow
themselves an extra margin of time.

1. Caps and gowns must be worn at graduation.

2. Gifts and flowers should not be given to students prior to the
ceremony due to lack of security.

3. Any student, who engages in disruptive behavior during the ceremony,
inflatable balls, cell phone usage, etc., will be escorted from the graduate
section.

Audience

4. It is strongly recommended that you do not attempt to drive and park
near the Greek theater up Hearst Street or onto Gayley Street as traffic
congestion will be heavy. Generally it is advised to plan for a 5 p.m. (or
earlier) arrival.

5. The recommendation is to take BART, bus, be dropped off, carpool or
park near the Berkeley High campus and take the free shuttle bus provided by
BHS.

6. The Shuttle Bus will pick up passengers where Kittredge Street meets
Milvia Street beginning at 3:30 and every 15-30 minutes after that. The
shuttle buses will run back and forth throughout the ceremony. Note that
the ceremony begins at 5:30 p.m. and it will take approximately 20 to 30
minutes from the pickup-up time to be in your seat at the Greek.

7. If you do plan to drive to the event, the closest parking lot to the
Greek Theater is a pay lot at the northwest corner of Hearst Street and
Gayley. Arrival at this lot may take more time than expected because of
traffic.

8. Disabled Access: There is no designated area for disabled parking
at the Greek Theatre for graduation. Disabled people, including those in
wheelchairs and their attendants are welcome to park for free in the BHS lot
on Kittredge where it meets Milvia. Accommodating shuttles will leave from
there at the times listed above and drop off right outside the Greek theater
entrance. Note: this is a change from previous information that suggested
drop-off can occur from private vehicles in the parking lot off of Stadium
Rim Way-which will NOT be possible.

9. Tickets. Tickets are still being sold. Monday from 2:30 to 4.
Tuesday-Thursday 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Donahue Ticket Office. Volunteer
ticket sellers are still needed for Wednesday and Thursday afternoon
(especially Thursday). If you can help, please contact jhuseby at pacbell.net

10. Please, do not bring glass containers, strollers, large coolers or huge
balloons.

11. How long? The ceremony will go until 7:30 pm at least. Bring
something soft on which to sit. It will be hot at first. Bring suntan
lotion and a sun hat. Then the sun will dip down. It will be cold. Bring a
sweater or blanket. When the ceremony is over, do not count on corralling
your graduate right away. There is an exuberant gathering of kids hugging
and kissing. It takes maybe half an hour to find your student.

12. Enjoy yourself. Berkeley High graduations are really wonderful.
