Visit the new YMCA-PG&E Teen Center building located at 2111 Martin Luther
King, Jr. Way for a tour, and to learn about our free and low-cost
workshops for teens year-round! Our hours are Monday-Thursday from
11:30am-8:00pm, and Friday's from 11:30am-6:30pm.
Please see below for a list and descriptions of our April workshops:
Beginning Art: Interested in art, but not sure where to start? Come learn
about different artistic techniques like drawing, painting, screen
printing, and more! Also facilitated by Diego Mendoza, this continuous
workshop is perfect for teens looking to experiment with their creativity
and learn new skills in a cooperative and fun environment.
Oakland Children's Hospital: Once a month Oakland Children's Hospital will
facilitate drop-in workshops discussing issues related to sports safety
and fitness. This workshop will be perfect for young athletes hoping to
gain a greater understanding of how to engage and take care of their
bodies while playing specific sports, as well as to improve their agility
and athleticism in general.
Project Freestyle: Whether you're already an experienced dancer or you're
looking to try something new, the Teen Center's hip-hop dance class is for
you! Facilitated by Jay Chanthalangsy, a local experienced choreographer
and competitive dancer, this continuous workshop will culminate in a
student performance at the end of the year!

looking to try something new, the Teen Center's salsa dance class is for
you! Facilitated by Rick and Patty Camacho, a local brother-and-sister duo
with years of dancing experience, this continuous workshop will culminate
in a student performance at the end of the year!
Tech Lab Open Hours: The Tech Lab will be reserved for students working on
homework on a drop-in basis during this time.
Youth Speaks: A nationally recognized spoken word education organization,
Youth Speaks is literally the best at what they do. Facilitated by Isa
Nakazawa, this drop-in workshop introduces students to the art of spoken
word, its connection to social justice issues, and more! No previous
experience with spoken word is required. To learn more about Youth Speaks,
