Berkeley High School Parent Forum on Weapons Available on Vimeo.com
The Forum on March 28, 2011 served a crowd of about 400 parents, staff and
community members. It consisted of 14 minutes of presentations from school
and District administration and the Berkeley Police Department before the
floor was opened for comments and questions for a total of two hours.
Principal Scuderi told the crowd that one of the immediate steps was to
bring in two additional administrators and two additional safety officers
(in addition to the 12 safety officers normally assigned), and they will
continue after the break.
The program has been divided into four half hour videos so that the rest
of the community can hear the issues, questions and ideas shared in the
forum. The BUSD Board of Education has called for a Special Meeting on
Wednesday March 30, 2011 to bring the discussion the issue of weapons on
campus to the Board level. The meeting is held in the Council Chambers,
2134 Martin Luther King Jr. Way at 7:30 p.m., and is televised on Berkeley
Cable Channel 33 and broadcast on Radio KPFB 89.3, and will be posted on
Vimeo.com.
