Starting next week, students will be going with their English class to a
computer lab to sign up for next year's classes. In order to help students
and parents understand what classes they need in order to graduate we
mailed home every student's transcript and, for 10th through 12th grade
students, a graduation progress report. Included in the mailing was Power
School Information for the 500 students whose families have not yet accessed
this valuable tool, a cover letter, and a flyer for the BHS Development
Group's upcoming fundraiser. The letters were taken to the post office on
Friday Feb. 25.

Approximately 150 students letters were mailed without the cover letter from
Principal Pasquale Scuderi. The letter in its entirety is below.

February 25, 2011

Dear Families:

This is a very exciting and positive time of year as students begin choosing
their classes for next year. Over the next few weeks your student will ask
to prioritize on-line their next year choices of classes and learning
community. We will mail home a hard copy for your approval.

To ensure that we are being helpful with students' planning for graduation
and the next school year, the registrar has printed and attached a copy of
your student's transcript. This transcript shows the courses your student
has taken while they have attended Berkeley High School and the grades that
were received. Each semester class is worth 5.00 credits. Below is a chart
explaining how your student's credits get added up for each semester.

Additionally, we have printed your student graduation progress report for

requirements for graduation. To graduate from Berkeley High School students
need to complete the graduation requirements found on page 10 in the Course
Catalog or online at http://www.bhs.berkeley.net
<http://www.bhs.berkeley.net/> . Please study course options with their
graduation progress report to ensure you and your student are informed about
the choices and how they correlate to their future.

There is multiple ways students gain information about their options for
next year.

. Our 2011-2012 Course Catalog were handed out in Advisory classes
February 11th.

. Counselors will be going into classes as well to answer any
questions your students might have and work on the student's Five Year Plan.

. Each learning community will be having their own parent
information nights where parents can come and ask questions about the course
offerings.
