ADMINISTRATION

1. BSEP applications are now available for the fall 2011-2012 school year.
Pick one up in the administration office from Belinda McDaniel, or send an
email request to bmcdaniel at berkeley.k12.ca.us for a digital copy.  Deadline
is February 25th. Don't delay, or you will miss out on this grant
opportunity.

2. Is there a teacher or staff member who has profoundly impacted you? Then
recognize them for their awesomeness!  Fill out a Superjacket Staff Member
of the Month form and let the school know how great they are!  Pick up the
form at the leadership office and turn it in by the 15th of January to
nominate your staff member.

3. Winter Ball! February 12, 2011 from 7-11 pm at the BHS Jacket Gym.
Tickets on sale starting Monday for only $25. This event will be bigger and
better than ever! Any students with three or more overdue textbooks will not
be able to purchase tickets for the Winter Ball.  Please see Ms. Reed in the
textbook room to return books or clear fines.  

CLUBS

2010 Sr. National Coach Kenny Hashimore, as well as a 2010 Jr. Olympic
Champion and BHS team captain want you to join the BHS Judo Club.  People
interested in Martial Arts and Brazilian Ju Jitsu are welcome.  No
experience necessary.  First meeting will be Tuesday, January 11th at lunch
in room C326.  Hope to see you there.

COLLEGE/CAREER

1. Students will be able to pick up their PSAT results on the following days
at lunch and after school in the College Career Center D221: Friday, January
14; Friday, January 21; Friday, January 28th. Scores cannot be given to
parents.  Students must show BHS ID in order to receive scores!

*2. Important! Cal Grants are due to the BHS Registrar by February 7th!  You
can pick up the form in the College Career Center or in the Counseling
Department.  Don't delay!  The registrar's office is D173.

SPORTS 

1. All students interested in playing softball this year must attend a
meeting January 14th at 3:30 pm in the old gym.  Sign-up Packets and
conditioning dates will be distributed.

*2. Congratulations to the following fall sports teams for achieving the
highest goal of educational athletics, combining outstanding academic
performance with interscholastic athletic achievement.  This Scholastic
Championship banner is only awarded to the top three NCS varsity teams in
each sport: Boys Cross Country Team, GPA- 3.60; Girls Cross Country Team,
GPA-3.63; Girls Water Polo Team, GPA- 3.60 and Girls Volleyball Team,
GPA-3.75.  Great job Jackets!!!!!!!!!

*3. Berkeley High Wrestling defeated John Swett High School 49-28 in the Bay
Shore Athletic League opener on Thursday night. The Jackets were led by team
captains Senior Ben Cerami who won by technical fall 19-4 and Sophomore
Edward Fong who won by fall in the 2nd period. Also recording wins for the
Yellowjackets were Freshmen Tre Stubbs, Marius Worsfold, Miles MacClure,
Jimmy Fuentes, and Sophomores Maurice Barb and Donald Keys.

EVENTS

1. Act, Sing, & Dance in YMTC's Pocket Broadway. YMTC's training workshop,
Pocket Broadway, begins in February; we are now open for registration.
Develop and deepen your singing, acting, and dancing skills, while working
on exciting and challenging material from an array of musicals. Workshop
runs for 9 weeks, February 28 through May 7 (no workshop March 31 or the
week of April 3); works-in-progress performances May 6 & 7.  No auditions -
all students in grades 7 and up are welcome. Tuition: $400; tuition

Berkeley High School Presents Dance Production 2011, a showcase of
stupendous student choreography Friday and Saturday, January 14 and 15 at
7pm in the Florence Schwimley Little Theater. $12 General, $7
