ADMINISTRATION

 

*1. Congratulations to BHS Trey Daniels winner of the 2010 BHS Jazz
T-shirt design contest.  Trey's great "Eat, Sleep, Jazz" design was
selected by BHS Jazz students as their favorite entry.  It will make a
terrific T-shirt which can be seen and purchased.  Thank you Trey and
thank you to the many other students who entered the contest and submitted
their creative designs.  We hope you will try again next year.

 

2. Yearbooks are on sale at myyear.com <http://myyear.com/>    $65 dollars
until October 31st.  Buy them for $70 in H102B during 7th period.

 

*3. Homecoming Events

 a. Are you interested in running for Homecoming Royalty?  If you are,
come pick up the application from D148 and turn it in by October 25th!
Winners will be announced October 29th at the homecoming game.

b. Thank you. Dude have you seen the class t-shirts?  They're so RAW!!
Dude yeah! They are so fresh!  The price is so good - only $12.  That's
right, get your Spirit week class t-shirt starting today at lunch on
senior steps, at other times in the leadership office.  The designs are on
the leadership windows. Also for sale - sacks, sunglasses, pom-poms, yeah
Spirit week!

 

CLUBS

 

*1. Come to Portable 5 today during lunch for the Comic Club!  Meet
awesome people, read awesome comics, and watch awesome movies!  ALRIGHT!
Let's be awesome together.

 

*2. All Chicano/Latino members: Meetings have started! Please check
outside the leadership office for meeting times, dates, and all updates.

 

SPORTS

*1. Come support the Boys Water Polo team on October 21st at 5:15pm at
Contra Costa College.

 

*2. Come and support the Girls Volleyball team team in the Donahue Gym at
3:30 pm against De Anza High School.

 

*3. BHS Boys Soccer tryouts are November 8-12, 2010  3:45-5:30 pm. at the
Derby field. Interested soccer players should pre-register online and get
tryout updates at futbolberkeley.com

 Complete a BHS athletic packet and bring it to first day of tryouts.  Get
an athletic packet from the Athletic Director's office.

 

SENIORS

 

*College Visits - Seniors only. Sign up in advance in the College/Career
Center and pick up a permission slip. The complete list, updated daily, is

BHS seniors can also find updated college lists on their Moodle site.

JOBS/INTERNSHIPS

 

1. Youthworks Employment Program in the Department of Housing and
Community Services will accept applications beginning October 1st through
November 5th for the winter/after school program. Qualified youth ages 14
- 25. The pay is $8 an hour. To apply you need to go in person to the
Youthworks office. For more information call 981-4970 or email
youthworks at cityofberkeley.info

 

2. Starry Plough is looking for several students with a great work ethic
to post promotional flyers around town, 5-10 students to work 1-2 hours
per week each.  Pay is $10 an hour. If a dedicated student is interested
and reliable to work more hours, that opportunity can be discussed.

  

EVENTS

 

Gee Wiz it's what?  That's right!  Shift Theater presents "Your Every
Wish," a fall play.  It's a story about parents not understanding their
kids and the parents trade them in for new kids.  Come to the Little
Theater and check it out.  October 22, 23, 29, or 30th at 7:00 pm.
Tickets are $6 for students and senior citizens, $12 for everyone else.
