1. College essay "readers" are now available to help students in the College
and Career Center every lunch Monday-Friday.  Starting Oct. 10 they will
also be available  before and after school on most days.  We will publish
the complete schedule next week.  Essay "readers" operate on a
first-come-first served basis.  Have your students drop by for
brainstorming, editing, or polishing the finished essay.  The service is for
all seniors, whether they are "stuck" or almost done.  

2. Copies of The Berkeley Book of Essays (originally published as True
Admissions) are for sale for $15 in the College and Career Center.  This
collection of real college essays written by Berkeley High students applying
to a wide range of schools, including the University of California, is a
useful tool to gather ideas and inspiration for seniors beginning the
college essay writing task.  All proceeds from the book sales benefit the
College and Career Center.
