The AB540 project is an after school program for Berkeley High school
students created by UC Berkeley students in 2009. The goal of this program
is to increase the representation of AB540/undocumented students in higher
education. AB540 Students are one of the most disadvantage students, they do
not qualify for federal financial aid therefore they have to rely on private
scholarships to finance their education. The AB540 Project
consists of weekly workshops in which UC Berkeley Students work close with
high school students to get them familiarized with the scholarship and
college application process. Each student is paired up with a UC Berkeley
student. They will receive help editing scholarship essays, personal
statements, and we have to make sure that they send their scholarship
applications because at the end of the year the student from the program
who fills out the highest number of scholarships and the one with the
highest determination will be awarded a prize! Last year a brand new laptop
was given away! 

APPLICATION DEADLINE: October 1st, 2010. You can submit your application
electronically to [mailto:ab540project at gmail.com] or turn in your
application to Heidi Weber in Building C Room 107 or to your counselor.

Application in English and Spanish attached.
