HOW TO GET INVOLVED AT BERKELEY HIGH!

WriterCoach Connection <http://www.writercoachconnection.com/> welcomes
community members for training to provide one-on-one help to students in
their classroom writing assignments. Your commitment can be just 1 or 2
hours per week, and you'll make a real difference for our students. Call
524-2319 to get involved or to learn more about the program.

English Learners Advisory Committee (ELAC): ELAC assists in the school
needs assessment and language census, and develops recommendations for the
expenditure of funds allocated for educational services for the English
Language Learner population at BHS. If you're interested, come to a first
meeting at the BHS Library on 9/23 at 5:30, or contact
hramirez-weber at berkeley.k12.ca.us.

BHS Safety Committee: The Safety Committee members are appointed by the
School Site Committee to write, evaluate and update annually a comprehensive
school safety plan that addresses the safety concerns of Berkeley High
School identified through a systematic planning process. If you're
interested, contact margitrooscollins at comcast.net for further information.

Berkeley High School Development Group (BHSDG): The BHSDG raises funds to
support all students at Berkeley High. The group meets on the first
Mondays of the month, from 7:00 to 9:00 in the BHS Library. The next
meeting is October 4. For further information, please contact Rosa Luevano
at rluevano at pacbell.net.

Berkeley Athletic Fund <http://www.berkeleyathleticfund.org/>: BAF raises
funds for equipment, uniforms, transportation, and other needs for BHS
athletics. Your assistance is needed to make participation in sports
accessible to all students. Please contact Manish Doshi at
manish_baf at comcast.net.

Clubs, Sports Teams & Performance Arts: And don't forget to encourage your
student to get involved in one of the many clubs, sports teams and
performance arts at the school. Kids who are involved in these activities
make friends, expand their world, and feel connected to something they care
about. A Student Clubs list is maintained by Chris Young, Student Activities
Director. Encourage your student to join a club, or start one! Contact
cyoung at berkeleyhigh.us.
