With Berkeley High School Principal Jim Slemp retiring at the end of the 2010 school year, the District has posted the position and is advertising it electronically. We are already receiving applications and will continue to do so until the deadline, 4 p.m. April 16, 2010. 

School and Community Meetings
We encourage all interested teachers and staff, students, parents and community members to come and participate in these meetings. There will be opportunity for input, group exercises and your questions about the process. This is an exciting time for Berkeley High, and we invite you to take part in this exciting process.

The meetings with Berkeley High School Teachers/Staff and Students
Parent/Community groups will be as follows: 
April 19 from 8 – 9:30 a.m. - Certificated and Classified Academic Choice, Electives, and BHS Office Staff.

April 26 from 8 – 9:30 a.m. - Certificated and Classified from BIHS and Small Schools and other staff.

April 27 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and again from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. – Two timeslots for Students/Parents/Guardians/Community. These meetings will take place in the Council Chambers in the BUSD's Administration Building 2134 Martin Luther King Jr. Way.

Assistant Superintendent Lisa van Thillo is forming two panels, a technical panel (facilitated by Asst. Superintendent Neil Smith) and a community panel (facilitated by Superintendent William Huyett), for the interview process at the direction of the Board. The Superintendent and the Assistant Superintendent will not be voting members of these panels, but will facilitate the process. The scores from each panel and a writing exercise will be combined and tallied to determine which candidates move forward to the final interview. Lisa van Thillo will oversee the process.
